Brown Wire / Running Lights

Postby schreibers » Wed May 22, 2013 10:24 am

Just a simple question when connecting your 4 side markers + tail lights + license plate light are you using a bus bar from the incoming brown wire (in my case coming from a modulite module) or are you daisy chaining the positives from each light to the next?

The way most diagrams are drawn they don't really differentiate so I wanted to make sure. I assumed with the high amp converter chaining would be fine then using separate grounds.

Thanks

I used in line splices to avoid extra lines to a buss bar

Those things are the spawn of the devil! Guaranteed to fail when you need them most.
A failure where the hitch installer connected mine caused an electrical fire in my trailer last fall!

I suggest you either learn how to solder and make proper soldered connections, or buy a proper crimping tool and use crimps. But I strongly suggest you avoid those insulation displacement connectors at all costs.

Thanks for the help I agree I've fixed many a car audio install due to improper T-Tap usage I'll just solder splices.

Thanks again
