That doesn't seem Smart. I've only seen a Smartcar pull a tiny motorcyle trailer (trailer for a motorcyle)

Mine I'm guessing comes in around 1100-1200 pounds, and I tow it with a 4 cyc. This picture is with a Subaru Impreza, and now with a Subaru Forester. I pulled up beside this monster for kicks because the parking lot was huge, and pretty much empty. The first words out of the owner's wife's mouth as she came running down the stairs was "I want one of those." She wanted to see inside the cabin and the galley, and talk all about it. Her husband pretty much poo-pood it because he has this huge mobile HOUSE that he spent 20 years of savings on, and I honestly think it was a penis measuring issue to him. I probably spent as much building this as he spends on gas in a year. But us teardroppers know it's not the size of the camper, but what you do with it. And I wouldn't consider this without electric brakes on the teardrop. Oh, mine is the woodie in the picture... :)

Not sure if I posted earlier in this thread. but here is my current rig.

It is a 2000 Suzuki Vitara with 2000cc motor and auto tranny. TD weighs around 1150-1200 ready for camping. Plus my fatness and other stuff in the TV like the cooler if I take one. It does pretty good and I do 65 mph on the interstate, when I have to use the interstates, I do not like them and I only drive 65 anyway these days. I do not like the tranny in this for towing and would like a manual better but going up steep hills I get passed by a few semis and I pass a few so I figure I am doing pretty good. I did not put an accessory oil cooler on the tranny, I don't believe in them that much. I did have the tranny flushed and filled with top quality oil. No brakes on the trailer and I feel just fine. Just pay a bit more attention and I am use to driving things with poor brakes. Sometimes next to none. Does keep a person awake. You all be careful driving out in the farm areas. Never know when I will be on the road.

Todah, the tears are made of cheap Lowes 1/4 or 1/8 inch lauan plywood, with 1 3/8th inch hollowcore door floors and light-weight pine inner supports and framing. Bear in mind that the 85 pounder is only 3 ft by 3 ft and has no wheel, since it levitates off of the hitch reciever, a system not advised for true teardrop enthusiasts. Building light is my passion, but really not recomended for purists. Hey, my 4 banger, turbo-charged, 6 speed automatic Chevy Cruze does have some limitations, but I love it because it's kind of like driving a sports car in the mountains.

I will be pulling with an '06 Mitsubishi Outlander. I get about 32 mpg (car on empty, put one gallon of gas and ran around town until light came on again)

as you can see, almost everyone pulls with a small vehicle, I think that's what makes teardrops so interesting to me.

We'll be taking off on the 13th on our first long haul camping trip pulling the TD with our new VW Jetta TDI. I hope the new tow rig gets as good milage as our 97 Passat TDI did. If I can get 30 mpg, I'll one happy camper. :)
