Crossroads of America 2013 gathering

While I love most state parks, it seems that they aren't keeping up with the times.
If the manufacturers and consumers are all going to units that "need" fresh water and sewer hookups, the parks that try to attract them should reconsider.

Prophets town state park (Lafayette IN.)is the newest in the Indiana State park chain. I think it was well thought out and designed on 3 levels of camping.....Primative ~ modern electric ~ and full facilities. The modern electric has wonderfully designed modern restrooms afording private showers. These sites have electric hook up and shared water stations. The more expensive ($50.00 a night i think) full facility sites are complete with their own water source and RV black water sanitary sewer hookups. So I think they are making an attempt to cater to the needs of the modern pioneer on several levels , it is simply difficult and expensive to retrofit the older parks to this level of service.

Those who live in areas of the country where they can truly "camp" have something special, the rest of us just get to enjoy our usual urban life with a few extra trees.

I had to leave in this line it was just too cool not to repeat

Saw your "Glamping" artical and enjoyed it. It is that time of year. McCormick's Creek State Park will again host a national gathering of tiny trailers 7-25 thru 7-28. We host this event every other year and it has been a great success. In 2011 we had 142 trailers attending from 38 of the 48 lower states and even a gal from Canada. We are on track to meet or beat this number this summer. I am providing you a link to to the 2013 website with the schedule and pics of past events for your entertainment. We would love to host your crew to a visit if possible. Perhaps just a weekend visit from you and your family but bring a camera and comfortable shoes as you will be seeing micro camping in 4x8 tiny teardrop trailers with there own galley ("kitchen") in the rear. This is the other side of the monster motor home camping but we can Glamp with the best of them. Saturday night will be the pitch in dinner promptly at 6 PM I'm on site 32 and will have extra plates and silverware so just bring an appetite.
