
We will be testing ours on the shore of Lake Superior this summer, tree covered and I an anticipating I may actually have to use our Unisolar 144 W flexible panel (18' long) as everything will be powered from solar.

A small generator will produce more power, cost less, and per kw/h is probably more efficient than the panels.
It costs a mph or two to pull the extra weight, not to mention the energy it took to build. You might use it ..45-60 days a year if you camp a LOT. That's about 600 gallons of gas for a generator. What? $2500? How much does that monstrosity cost? Over 5 or so years....
Nah, a Yamaha 2400 is 52 db and costs $1800.
No contest. Unless you're off grid full timing, then MAYBE it would make sense. But not even for the hard core camper...
