Hi, I have been reading the site and enjoy it all.

I have no TT yet , but a friend and I have discussed the options for ages

In the mean time, (which may last for years) I have a slide in camper on my truck. Pretty basic , but everything that is really required. I hope it is not tooo out of place here .

Na. That is a beauty and it and you should fit in nicely. what does the inside look like.
Another new fellow is starting to build a Glen-L design slide in and then later a teardrop as well.

I been lucky enough to be able to get to Christchurch twice in my military career for operation Deep Freeze. There was they take all the country top scientist to the South pole and try to help the other countries that don’t like drinking cold beer, how to make ice. Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome Terry, I used to work right near the ChCh Deep Freeze Operation, back in the early '70s , as apprentice aircraft mechanics , we would watch (with delight) the flash american cars roll out of the Starlifter, later , as they were leaving we watched (with dismay) as our vintage Model A etc were loaded onto the Starlifter .. LOL

I have put some pics of the camper on my album. They are pretty poor quality, and I apologize for that , but it was the best I could do.

The camper was built 15yrs ago , by a friend , for his antique truck. I made the leadlights for him then. He put it to good use , as do I now.

It is ironic that we have friends from Christchurch here visiting us right now, and just the other night while we were showing them our teardrop and Dam Gathering pictures, I noted that there does not seem to be many here on the Forum from NZ. Even thought there are quite a few active members from Australia?????????
Maybe you can get something started.

Thanks for the welcome Mary C, you are right, every time I get in the truck I smile , 'cause I feel like a winner again.

Brian and Sandi, I think your Stude is cool , there are so few of them left now , it's great that you get it out and about.
My truck is often seen here , as I have been using it daily for the last 15yrs. Though recently I have been avoiding ChCh city, mostly due to the stuffed roads and changed traffic flows that are now the new normal after the earthquakes in 2010 and 2011.
Its winter now and we had 125mm rain over the last 2 days, that's about 120mm more than normal , so the camper is 'resting' till the suns warmth shines thru again

Great to hear you drive your truck! I love to drive my Stude. Put on over 80,000 miles over the past 10 years.
Last year we drove across 13 States in the Stude and crossed a lot of things off the old bucket list.

"Across 13 states" that's a cool trip

I took the truck on a great drive in 2006 , the local VCC hosted an international rally, in Invercargill, There were various routes to get there , mine was over Arthurs Pass and down the West Coast , thru Haast and Wanaka to Invgl.

We traipsed around Southland for a bit and returned via the East Coast, about 3000km over 16days all up. It was good after the rain stopped , LOL .

Let your ChCh friends know its snowing here just now , so they can stay on holiday for a bit longer
