Guidance on how to 'heal' a boo boo?

Postby burlesot » Fri Jun 14, 2013 9:54 pm

Hi,
I'm nearly done with the inside of my restoration/renovation and I have started to look at my work that will be needed on the outside. I have one spot on the back, near the bumper that I could use some guidance on.

I will be installing the new aluminum edge trim on the bottom part, but the section that comes up by the hatch is what I'm looking for some guidance on. How could I 'cover' it find a way to not make it so nasty? I have already cut my shin on that section several times and am sure I will do so one night in the future.

Really appreciate your insight.

When you look closely at the rear bottom flange, can you remove it? If you can I would suggest you have someone weld in a replacement patch panel. Yes its specialized work with Aluminum.

Otherwise I would look into straightening and covering it with some kind of molding. I've seen some that cover an edge like a folded wrap... Can't remember where just at this moment.
