GFCI not working

Question one: cuts.... do you mean that I cut into the wires and need to fix those?

Question two: it trips immediately when I have a power cord plugged into the Marinco inlet.

Yeah, it looks like you cut the wires when you striped the outer sheath off the cord.

My post was not meant as an insult, or to be offensive, I am sorry If it came off that way.

The intent was to point out that if you aren't sure how to wire outlets, etc. it is better to get some training before proceeding.
I understand you are just asking for help, all of us do so regularly, but sometimes, when someone asks "how" to do something that should have been covered in the first lesson of a particular trade, it is scary, as jumping in when the person doesn't understand the basics can cause harm.

Really appreciate your response. No offense taken.
I know this is not my forte; was trying to go with the 'super simple AC system' because of that. Ran into some issues with the GCFI system. Not sure what the problem was/is, but appreciate your insight and understand the concern.

Don't start switching ends.... IF there is no load on "out" side if GFCI when you apply power to "in" side, and there is no bad wiring issues, and GFCI trips, best guess would be GFCI is bad...

Its unlikely the nicked conductor insulation is the culprit here.
Of course its bad practice to initially nick insulation & worse to just leave it as-is, But if everything is dry,,,Very unlikely its the tripping problem.

Was it already mentioned,,,
Is the power source you are connecting to the Marinco Inlet wired correctly ?

Full disclosure: I'm a noodle head.

Turns out it wasn't the GFCI that was faulty. It was me.

The red light doesn't mean that the circuit has been 'tripped' as I thought. It means that the GCFI unit is working properly. I fixed up my wire nicks, and everything worked perfectly. Thanks for your patience.
