Really really like following this thread. I'm about to use the FRP from lowes to do the ceiling of my 60 Metzendorf. You've given me some great ideas and I thank ya! 8)

After trying almost every way in the world on the pop top I think that i am going to go with hard sides. Still got to cover and trim seal but I think it will function and look good.

That roof is flat and water will pool and then run inside. Don't know why. But that's Murphy's law.

There is a 1 inch lip that the pop up pannels set to the out side of. The water would have to pool up over 1 inch deep to come in.

Has anyone ever painted FRP . If i ever get this thing done i think that i am going to have to paint it at some point. What type paint will stick. I thought of Krylon fusion but I have never used it on FRP. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Found this: http://liambean.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Paint-Fiberglass

I don't know anything else about painting FRP.

Re: teardrop toy hauler AKA HAMMERHEAD

Postby sumo » Sun Aug 04, 2013 6:41 pm

A lot of progress today. My little boy said the camper looked like a shark with the top up so we went with it and named it hammerhead. Still have some work to do on the top.

"hammerhead". Great name, I love it! Still thinking of a name to fit mine.

I used Krylon fusion on my td over the frp. Wife did not like the few colors available.
Sherman Williams guy said that any quality latex over the fusion would work. She picked her color.
That was in 07. Touched it up last fall.
