I've been "outfitting," getting ready for our first trip in 2 weeks. Very exciting. Turns out everything I got for my galley (and I have been collecting it for awhile) fits just perfectly. It's almost as if I had measured everything in advance and built it just to fit. Sometimes things just work out.

Just finished building a 1935 Chev PU for a customer. I has filled the last two weeks of my life full time (last shift on it was 41 1/2 hours straight without sleep)........so I have not seen much of Miss Piggy.
But, this week I will get back on it before we leave!!

...Added cupboard door storage:



Adding storage on the door makes use of an inch of unused space (The ¾” width of the cupboard front structure at the opening plus the ¼” indentation area on the door); so, it only takes up about 2 inches of actual cupboard space. Yet, it will make access to the flatware very convenient.

Yesterday, got some help soldering a bunch of wire taps and coating them in liquid electrical tape. Today, poly'ed a bunch of woodwork in the galley and interior. I'll post some pics a bit later in the build journal...

A trip to Bass Pro today for more "outfitting." Got a couple of hotdog forks, a double pie iron, extra mantles for the Colemans and a few other odds and ends. Yesterday I had to remove the aluminum trim on the edge of my galley counter. The PL Premium doesn't seem to really hold that well to metal. I put it back on with 5200 to seal it and a few screws. In the process of removing the old glue I had to sand the top of the cabinet face so today that, and my hatch prop poles, got a new coat of varnish. I found a basket that fits just perfect in the galley to hold paper plates and plastic cutlery for those times when I don't feel like washing dishes. I am planning to make a nice liner for it from some leftover toast colored Sunbrella this week.

Although I consider it "done," the fun still continues.

Mounted a new 19" TV/DVD this weekend. Love it. Now I don't have to worry about cold, rainy weather. And I removed the stove in the drawer in the galley of the Silver Shadow. It came with it and I prefer my new Coleman grill/stove, plus I didn't want to cook in the galley. It's amazing how much cleaner the counter is by putting "stuff" in my new storage drawer. I'm sure I'll reorganize the drawer 30 times this week!

I added 1/4 by 1/2 inch alum molding to all exposed areas where 1/8th inch plywood meets the sidewalls. Had to cut 1/4 inch off of the angle stock to make it bendable. Grrrr, working with metal....not my cup of tea! However, it looks nice and since the trim is set in mastic, it should make it very waterproof. I elected not to make the trolley top openable, just another leak worry eliminated.
Roly, rembering wood is good, but metal, well I stay as far away from it as possible, (sharp edges, unforgiving, binds when I try to cut it by hand, can't be spliced if cut too short, has to be drilled and countersunk and is tarnishable :-) Oh Well.

Now the tear looks like a bunckhouse inside.

I also hung a really cool "plank" painting of a lake scene near Geraldine Montana that I got years ago at an estate sale, will add photo later.
