My trailer is in hiding, in the garage for the last 21 months; sorta like a "witless protection program" for TTT's. Finished now, so it can come out. But not today, next weekend. Maybe even photograph it in the open. But it might be too shy....

At gatherings it's typical to have your tear photographed. Outside of that, common courtesy is to ask if a they can take a photo, especially if you are around it. Someone saying they are going to put it on a web site, should have asked your permission to do so. It's real poor form to do that without permission. For the Teardrop book by Doug Keister, wavers were signed. You never know how that image will be used. I've had photos of a boat I built show up on European web site to sell plans without my permission. Doug

On a related topic..... I've read that anything posted on Facebook is theirs to use. Including photos. Anyone verify that?

I've heard the same but I don't remember if I read it or if someone told me that.

My sister simply sent some pictures from her email address to mine, never even publishing it anywhere. Yet, a couple years later, one of those photographs showed up on a website. I'm finding that nothing is very private anymore. :(

I find it that all the attention happened when I changed from pin stripes to flower power. Those flowers are really big and draw your eye. When It had just pin stripes, people would just nod at us. Glad to know its a normal thing, and ya we keep our cot made.
Your failure to prepare, does not make it an emergency for me.

More than a few times I have been changing from my jammies and heard Rob talking to someone about the trailer. I know that the next question will be to ask to see the inside and I really need to hustle to get my clothes on and the bed straightened up. :? There is a big temptation to put a sign out that says "No tours until after 10:00 AM". It's all good, people really like these little critters.

Phooey: You've got a nice looking teardrop...take it as a compliment that people want to see it. I know that mine is an attention grabber, and I take great pride in showing it off. I assume after a few years it will start getting old...but I figure I've got quite a ways to go before I get to that stage. First question out of everybody's mouth is "did you make that thing?" and when I say "yes" they immediately follow up with something like "any chance of seeing inside it?" If it doesn't look "boxy" or "factory made" then they get lots of attention. People really appreciate something you make with your own two hands and it's really reflected in their compliments. They know that not everybody can take a pile of wood and metal and turn it into a piece of art...and they are green with envy, and the compliments are free flowing. I enjoy parking in highly visible spots.

The usual sequence of questions; What is it? Do you sleep in it? Can I look at it? There have been other questions, a couple I can't repeat! At a gas station one time the conversation was; Is that van Airstream? No it's a Modernistic; Are you sure it's not an Airstream? Yes I'm sure; What did you say it was, I'm going to google that when I get home; OK good luck with that.

Thank you for the lovely compliment Jim. I wish we could say that we built it but we are simply not that talented. Ours is a Hunter Fat Shadow that we have simply customized a bunch. :D

We had barely gotten down the road when we purchased it and had to stop for gas and the first question out there was "do you sleep in that?". When we got home, after hearing that question every time we stopped, I had a license plate frame made that said "Yes, we do sleep in it!". :wine:

For 11 years now, I have been doing the show-and-tell, and never grow tired of it. That is what 1/2 of the fun is for me. My doctor told me to get out of the house after my wife died, talk to people and don't sit around and feel sorry for yourself. Hey, it works for me. The wooden satelite dish and flip-down Sony TV along with the 2 slice pop-up wooden toaster, get hardy, out-loud laughs all of the time. I telll folks that the only TV shows that I can get, are Woody Woodpecker and Pinochio films.

Last weekend, I was invited to participate at the prestigious, Classic Wooden Boat and Wooden Car Show at Lake Arrowhead, in our local mountains. Wow, what a surprise. I showed up at 7 am, was directed to park at the end of the line of cars, where event attendees had to pass me by, as they made their way to the rest rooms. I talked for 10 hours, to countless, very interested "woody people", not only custom woody owners, but many of the Classic Chris Craft and Gar Wood owners, who had their prize-winning examples tied up at the docks. Many of those high-dollar beauties are hauled out every year and reconditioned, just for this show.

My teardrop looked like an outhouse next to those works of art, but every bit of mine was built by these two hands, and hundreds of folks seemed to like it. I even slept there overnight, only to start the show-and-tell all over again Sunday morning. I had a great time, and may have even gotten a few folks interested in a teardrop for themselves. As a bit of humor, (as you may know, I always love), I have a painted sign that says: "Interested teardrop enthusiasts welcome". When I flip it over, it says: "Go away, leave me alone", it always gets a laugh. Yes, teardropping is in my blood, I live it and breath it (and have another one on the drawing board, right now).
:? 8) :R  Roly, showin' and tellin' when ever I can.
