Perhaps this one? http://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-Electronics-5-000-BTU-Window-Air-Conditioner-LW5012/203127491

Geep, Why not put the AC in the back wall where it would be less susceptible to wind driven rain going down the road, and, in my mind, less likely to be a head knocker when in use?

Eagle , Thanks ... I should have started much earlier in the year when it was still Cool ... Hot as blazes now ... can only work on it in the morning and late evening ... once the sun’s on it , it’s roasting time ... :o

The AC will be mounted on the floor amidships (shin knocker) , for better cooling , and it will be retractable for going down the road ... no worries ...

Anybody have any favorites among the cheap ACs... looks like many brands , all made by the same factory in China...

Going on “Golden Hour” ( an Artist’ favorite time of day ) , finally able to get a little more rough shaping done with my Ancient handsaw , Had it sharpened a couple years back , still sharp as a razor, they can say what they want about new steel , but  ... Felt the need to add more material as things progressed , so I did ... bits here and there to fill some areas... better to have too much to carve than too little ... same goes for a Turkey ...
Extensive use of great Stuff and bamboo skewers evident ... Tomorrow morning , more shaping ... :R

Ps. already picked up a contractors bag of foam scraps ... no attempt at even trying to get the little beads everywhere ... :frightened:

Psps. the block on the top left side of the pic isn’t attached , just sitting there when I took the pic...

GPW,

Sure is looking good. I love the look of the exposed rib arches in the inside!

Now cut a 90 degree radiused template to use on the upper portion of the nose. Drive a pivot pin into the top center of the forward most arch, and you'll be able to swing the template 180 degrees around the front to "chase the shape" from side to side. (I hope what I'm saying make sense?)

A little belt sanding for breakfast ... getting closer now ... Did more on the “passenger” side than the driver’s side .... had to let the old belt sander cool off a bit ...

Ever notice how foam dust is attracted to computer screens ... :frightened: What a MESS !!! grrrrrr!!! More Coffee...

If I’d realized how tall this thing was gonna’ be , we’d have “scaffolded” up for it ... Don’t want the old fool falling off a rickety ladder eh ...

More coffee, more hand sanding with a block , and a few more places that need a little “filler" ... and a chance for a little rest in front the fan :fan: ...

It's getting there each step of the way!

Really starting to take shape now.

Becareful on that ladder. Every once in a while I'll be working on a ladder, get fatigued, sweat in my glasses, go to climb down and miss the last step. :? :x  It can be quite jarring.

Looking Good. Dont fall, you know it is not the fall that hurts it is the sudden stop that hurts and don't put your hands back to stop the fall, I have broken both my wrists trying to do that. Its really beginning to shape up.

Thanks KC !! Yeah that ladder worries me ... :o Old , shaky , just like me ...
Did some more filling , that’s probably the last of it ... we hope  ... I’ve got GS all over me , clothes , arms, even in my hair (that’s gonna’ leave a bald spot eh ? ) :frightened:
And did more sanding ... Lots of that left to do ... :duh:

Two things I’ve learned .... the hard way ...

1. This kind of work would be much more comfortable and efficient during COOLER weather ... :R
2. I should have done the foam nose “ribs “ ... scientifically, actually measuring out the radius and making templates... ... sculpting is Fun , but this cut and paste is a lotta' work ...

Ps. the pinnacle at the top is a Mountain of foam dust ... what a MESS !!! Yardman’s gonna' have a COW !!!

Not bad for sanding and shaping freehand .... was going to make a template as recommended ^ , but couldn’t find anything to do it with (cardboard = we recycle ) But it’s not like I’ve never done this kind of stuff before .. a gazillion times

Well at least the nose is dried in .... went inside looking for holes , potential leaks .... couldn’t see any ... pretty solid ... :D
