Debbie, the current REI flyer shows a Primus FireHole 100 propane stove on sale. The ad says it features "...precise simmer control..." Their item number is 831-496.

I have no experience with this stove, it just seems to be the right form factor for you and may offer better flame control than the old Colemen. The lack of precise simmer is my main gripe about the Coleman 2-burner Matchlight that I have. I have a Primus backpacking stove that is almost 50 years old and works as well today as when I bought it new.

Debbie and Randy, You know my preferences in stoves so I can not be any help. Just toss is some snide remarks. And I take several stoves and a repair kit with me.

Yesterday I got a 425 Coleman. That is a 425 with no letter from the early 50s. It needs some tin knocking. I burned the old foul smelling gas in it, didn't even have to oil the pump leather but I will have to replace the cap gasket.
Did you get to see the old stove I had at the Twain and Tears? It is a AutoKook from the early 30s and still runs pretty good. About the size of a 425.
