The problem was that if I had to make a claim he wanted to make sure that there would be no confusion on what State Farm would pay. Apparently this can happen even if you think you are insured for a certain amount.
insured as a "utility trailer" for an estimated value of $9,000 - $11,000.
Ryan, I'm glad you got some insurance.
Some is better than none.
Now you have insurance, do you know what they will pay you if it is totaled?
Yes, I know you said 8-11 thousand, but ask your agent, "how much will I get, today, if it is totaled?"
If he/she says 8-11 thousand, they aren't very well informed.
I'm really curious, because I've gone around and around with State farm, and
all they will offer for a homebuilt is "stated value".
That is, you can "state" whatever you want, and they will insure it, But if you have a claim, they will pay "what it is worth".
They decide what it is worth, that you have it insured for 8-11 thousand doesn't mean that is what they will pay.
I spoke with the heads of trailer, and vintage car divisions in the home office and they
will not offer agreed value policies on a trailer, only cars.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...
