How should I wire up my voltmeter in relation to the battery, fuse block, etc?

Is there not a way to not have to run a separate positive and negative wire from the battery terminals? I was going to have a main connection for the leads from the battery at the camper and would hate to fool with two little additional wires for the permanently mounted in trailer volt gauge. Would be much better if it was possible to use the main positive and negative wires already coming in from the battery.

It just needs to be in parallel. Hook it at the light, splice in to the wires, it makes no difference. 8)
