Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Well, I knew it would happen one day, and on October 5th it did. The teardrop wll no longer be enough for my growing family. :cry:

So, without much hesitation I started right in on a CT conversion to make room for the new little guy. I stripped a trailer I already had down to the bones. New floor, insulation, paneling, and little paint, a couple windows, a laminate floor, and now about to start the cabinets. She's coming together pretty nicely. Better hurry, first trip is over Memorial Day. Here a few pics of where she stands so far.

Congrats on the youngster, I'm in the same boat. I had a super sweet camper on my truck that was perfect for me and my wife, but now we've got a tag-along. For now he sleeps in the pack-n-play in the trailer, but when he gets too big I will build a bunk above our bed.

Camping with him is a blast, especially now that he's walking. He's free to explore, throw rocks, eat bugs etc while we kick back in our chairs and watch the fun.

He sleeps a lot better in the trailer compared to the tent, it's a lot quieter and darker, and when he gets up at 6 AM he doesn't wake the whole campground!

Finished with the conversion enough to go camping for the summer. Here are a few pics. Still working on little Elam's sleeping arrangement.

I'm not very diligent about taking pics during a build so I'll try to explain the best I can.
I first laid out my footprint for my cabinet with 1x2 poplar and screwed it to the floor. I found the spot I wanted for the ac and cut the exhaust hole directly behind it. I have 2 a/c techs in my family, so after they ran some figures to see what type if air flow I needed we drilled the needed amount of 1in holes through the floor. I believe there are 113 holes on either side of the unit. All of this is inside the cabinet footprint. We made a wood duct to put over the exhaust cut out. The unit itself is secured by pieces of poplar all the way around. Inside the footprint we sprayed the floor, poplar, and 6 inches up the walls with that rubber sealant in a can. We built a footer for the cabinets that acts like an intake duct. All the seams are sealed with foam, and silicone. We drilled new drain holes in the unit. Condensation runs out these holes and into the rubber sealant on the floor. It then travels to one of the 113 intake hopes we drilled to drain out of the trailer.
