Thanks, Jody. I look at your build and think that's the perfect trailer, lightweight and able to travel over bumpy roads. In comparison, DD's a squatty body low-rider that will probably scrape bottom at the mere mention of a dip in the pavement. I'm wondering not if but when and where I'll leave the plumbing behind.

Maybe I'll be ready for another UT trip this coming Spring. Dewey's pretty laid back, I think he'd get along with ... darn, I'm drawing a blank on your dog's name. With DD on the hitch, Rokit and my '78 Merc in the back of the truck, a pair of boots and some fishing gear... what a way to travel! I think I could get used to that. 8)

DD made her first road trip, 400+ miles in a heavy rain to LCG and then back home... and, she didn't fall apart or leak inside! Just a bit of work on the galley hatch joints will get her completely tight.

I've read here about all the attention you get but was still surprised at all the thumbs-up I got from passers-by and those who I met at gas stations and parking lots.

Here's a pic of DD at Lake Bistineau State Park in Louisiana, the first road trip for Dewey and I.

To those that couldn't attend LCG, I can tell you that the Diner was a big hit! There was a continuous parade of people checking it out. It looks even better in person than Gary's pictures show.

Take care,
Tom

Hi Gary/StPatron,

Congrats on your first trip. Most of your goal has been achieved,
consider any remaining details just finishing touches!

Cheers,

Gary,

The DD looks great. Was great to get an up close look and spending a little time with you and your travel buddy Dewey.

Look forward to meeting up with you again at another gathering.

We all love Gary, don't we?

Tonight on the way home from London, my wife Nicola texted me to ask if she could open a parcel that had been addressed to Mr & Mrs "Grizz" Of course I said, who is it from ? She texted back Gary in Oklahoma, and then refused to tell me what was in it, except that she loved the contents.

When I got home she gave me a cuppa tea, let me greet the cats etc, then presented me with the box in the photo below.

I will not explain it all, but will say that there was a challenge in the total package..... now the trick is for you guys to figure it out and let us know if you can see what the challenge is that Gary put to me. It is not too cryptic, just look at the contents and think a bit latteraly.

Thanks Gary. .... there goes my holiday break 8)

All three the cats went mad for the catnip, a super charged variety grown for Garys cats.

Hmm Is it a guitar making kit?? I see the nut, sound hole grommets, and the coin to inlay...

Surprised customs let the catnip through!

Griz: I'm glad you, Nicola and the kitties are enjoying the box of trinkets.

This package has quite a history. Over a year ago Grizz surprised me with a package in the mail, a Santa outfit for Dewey. My latest avatar shows Dew all dressed up for the season. Wondering what to send in return, I finally decided a baggie of home-grown was in order, catnip that is. The package bounced back twice for some unknown reason, jealous pkg. sniffing dogs??? Each time I would add something more to it and the original envelope was replaced with a cigar box. An Oklahoma state quarter caused alarm once, go figure. Another time, the postal clerk forgot to include the customs form and I didn't catch the mistake. Finally... after a year it has arrived!

Looks like we have a winner! See Grizz for the prize..

Notice how I labeled the baggie in big, bold letters "CATNIP". I'm pretty sure that's what did the trick.

Thomas, I was thinking that yellow Don Tomas box would make a nice matching guitar and wedding gift for a Mrs2bits. Lemme know, ok? 8)

Just now stumbled upon you build and read it non stop (I have way too much free time at work) Well done and it turned into a very beautiful trailer. I have been planning a 5X10 Benroy with a strip finish but looks like you beat me to it!

With all of the posts about cats I have to post my cats story. 2 years ago on the night before Christmas Eve, we were out driving around and drove by a Petsmart. My son wanted to go in and look around. Inside we found a most beautiful solid black 2 year old cat with eyes so green they are almost neon. We had not intentions of having a pet in our house but we just could not say no to her. The adoption fee was removed for that day only, which made it even harder to resist. Needless to say we took her home. During the adoption process we learned that he had been picked up by Oklahoma City as a stray and they took her to the store to get cleaned up. The spent 4 hours on her getting her cleaned up enough to tell that she was a cat.
We got her home and she and my son really clicked. He has Aspergers Syndrome and a very high anxiety disorder. His anxiety disorder is so high that when he gets stressed his body produces a chemical that eats his muscle tissue. At one point he had to spend a year in a wheel chair because he could not walk. Well the cat, we named her Jewels (from her eyes) took to my son in an almost motherly fashion. She sleeps all day and every night at around 9:30 she lets it be known that it is time for him to go to bed. While he is asleep she watches every move he makes. If he gets sick or rolls out of bed or anything wrong, she starts letting out the most God awful cry and runs to me and my wife's room and uses her claws if needed to wake us up. When he is sick, even with a runny nose she will not leave his side and she is always giving him a bath.
We was not prepared for a cat nor was we even thinking about one, but she has been a great gift to our family and she has help our son in so many ways. We don't know if she ever lived in a house or not and it took us awhile to get her house broken. Now she will not go outside even if we leave the doors open. She will "sneak" into the garage. We have a pet door that she uses to get into the garage, she goes out the and catches mice. However if someone sees her in the garage she acts like she is about to be beaten and runs back into the house and hides. We even carry her into the garage to show her that she is allowed in there but she still acts like she is committing a cardinal sin or something.
One odd thing about her that I have not noticed with any other cat, is her love for bacon. It is so funny! She never begs for food when we eat and generally could not care any less when we eat. However when we have bacon, the claws come out. If we do not give her any while we are cooking, she will actually steal it from our plates. If you go near her while she is eating bacon, her hair stands up, she arches her back, starts hissing and the claws are out swiping at you. Nothing can come between her and her bacon!
