Canadian Gathering 2014

Postby Vedette » Mon Jul 01, 2013 12:59 pm

"The Big Announcement"
Yesterday while out mowing I had a thought.
And after discussing it with Sandi and getting approval.
We have decided to host a Gathering here at the Farm next in 2014.
It will be listed as a Canadian Gathering as it will be held in Canada, but is not just for Canadians.
So, get your passports renewed or get an Enhanced Drivers Licence and come on up.
Over the coming months I will monitor your suggestions and input and come up with a "Date" that will best serve the majority of possible attendees. We are very flexible!!!
We have hosted other camping events here at the Farm and love the company. :wine:
This Fall we will once again host the Westcoast Cruisers Street Rod Group.
The other thought is that this will be a Great opportunity to get our newly formed B.C.Tear Jerkers Chapter together as the host group.
Well what do you think?. Is there any interest here?

We would love to come. Being on the west coast your biggest issue is IRG. It should be middle july. I would contact fogcrawler or teardrop nanny ( dean and joanie). To avoid those dates. I would suggest either mid june or the weekend before or after IRG to make it a roadtrip event!

That is what I am thinking too.
Good to hear from you guys.
Is it hot enough there for you? 8)
We are headed your way tomorrow or the next day.

Ridiculous hot. 108 today and 11 tomorrow. Yes the humidity is only 11%, but at 108 i.t really doesn't matter. It is still too much hot! Have a fun and safe trip.

I'm in and very flexible as well. I'll simply add the date to the calendar when it's announced and cancel/switch anything that tries to come up on that date. Willing to add on a couple days before the event as well to help prepare for the attendee's.

Hi Brian, Roly here. If you could set a date that is after the IRG, and perhaps, since I have already traveled 900 miles north, I would love to make the added effort to charge on up to your beautiful Canada, set up camp in your south 40. and enjoy the wonderful prime rib dinners that you promised a few months ago. Now lets see, Penticton, Kamloops, the Canadian Rockies, the cross-country trip by rail over the Canidian rockies, the beautiful Canadian Butchart Gardens, Banff, Jasper, Glacier Nat'l Park, hey there is really nothing much of interest to see.......yeah, right.

Now, lets get this straight, if we load up our teardrops, head on North to Brian's place, (where you may experience some, torch cutting, grinding, welding, plazma cutting, bondo sanding and countless hours of prep work on one-of-a-kind, fantastic custom body work jewels, plus powder coat finishes and other related creations, it will be a trip of a life time). If you failed to see his "Miss Piggy", at the Shasta gathering, you won't know what I am talkin about.

Hey Brian, is there any truth to the fact that Prime rib will be served at every night of camping?"

This guy is a highly talented, body-art genious, and if you had a chance to see his, "Miss Piggy", the one-of-a-kind Studebaker creation, you know will what I mean. There is no other teardrop, not even close, to what he has created. (By the way, Brian, the even swap for my "Shrunk-Bunk", for the Miss Piggy, still stands...Not a chance.) Lets see, would you trade a few woodworking hours, for your endless endless hours of custom metalwork? Huh, let's talk!

Ok, Brian, when is the date, and how difficult will it be to cross the border with my 38 revolver, (just kidding)? Lets see, all I'll need is proper border crossing credentials, a valid passport, no felony convitions, no parol violations, no recent IRS or FBI investigations, no recent contact with Snowden in Russia, or no revcovations of the fifth ammendment, to keep me out of trouble with the IRS. Hey, not a problem. I'm as pure a fresh driven snow.

However, I am anxious to join you, along with many others, in a wonderful teardropping experience, right there on your Canadian farm, so far away from the normal, lacidasical lifestile, here in the states, up there in the north woods, (or whatever), relaxing, in the rustic pastures (or Park-like luxuries) that you have to offer. Hope to see you soon. Is it true that you offer full hook-ups, water, elect, sewer, Wi Fi, wireless phone and chicks from local bars? (Oops!)
:) 8) :R  ;) :wine: Roly, the li'l ol' So Calif Woody TD guy...........

Great Post Roly
Thanks for the praise, but you were obviously feeling a little "Frisky" when writing it.
Yes, we will be looking at date suggestions that will fit with other events.
The IRG has already been brought up....and we too plan to attend.
And as there is a lot of farm preparation required to host a gathering we would have to schedule before the IRG and then continue on with those that are returning or continuing south to the IRG.
This thought might work for those coming from the East that could take in Yellowstone ,Glacier, Banff Lake Louise, etc. on your way to the Okanagan Valley before heading South thru Washington and Oregon on our way to the IRG in California.
September is also wonderful time to visit the Okanagan, as we are in Wine country and the weather is perfect for camping (not quite so hot.... it was 36 here today, that is close to 100 on your scale) 8)
We will discuss it when we see you in three weeks.
Oh, and that was not "Prime Rib " on the menu.....I think we said it would be Sandi's famous Bar- B- Q Ribs or by then some new Dutch Oven recipes.
So far our DO experiments have been limited to Chicken (she has perfected that!!!)

Very interested but everytime I plan something the past year something comes up so we will see.
What is an enhanced drivers license? I haven't been outside the U.S. in a few more years than I am admitting too.

Hi Karen
Enhanced Drivers Licence is just another money grab by both of our governments.
It is just a little cheaper than a Passport, that is all.
Hope you can make that long trek.
We hope to hook the date to something else that participants can catch on the way to and from.
