Anybody installed/ built bed lift???

Postby MOOOSE » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:39 pm

First of all let me say a hello to all you guys and gals.
I'm a new member that's been thinking of a cargo conversion for several years for a mobile hunting cabin.
My brother and I hunt (squirrels with cur dogs) all over the southeast .
I've thought about a hunting cabin but don't want to be confined to one area.

My question is has anybody ever built/ installed a bed that lifts up to ceiling like in a toy hauler??

Thanks for all the photos and ideas y'all have given me!! Keep up the good work.
I'm still In the planning stage right now but have gotten a lot of good ideas from this forums.

mine does, if I need it to

The bed is supported by 4 Unistrut channels. Sits on two bolt by two bolt supports about 30" off the ground

On top of each of the unistrut is a 1 x 1 bolt 90 angle bracket that has a caribeaner in it. This beaner then attaches to a O ring on the mattress plywood holding it up.

Wife and I can lift it manually, but I would now use progress-capture pulleys as I already have for work. Easy peasy.

Let me explain a little further.
I want to put two beds across the back against rear door.
The bottom bunk I've planned to build in two pieces and fold each half against sidewalls.
The top bunk I want to lift against roof so ill have enough room for my Polaris Ranger.

Think I've got it figured out. Now if I can get home , find a cargo, and get started with my conversion!!

I just found a guy that is parting out a toyhauler that had a tree fall on it. I am getting the factory bedlift and all the hardware. I will post some pics when I get it home.
