ANY FARMERS - Livestock tags wanted for collector please.

Postby grizz » Thu May 30, 2013 4:35 pm

An apology first..... I know this is not teardrop related in the true sense, but I also know there are a few farmers on here, and more importantly, many collectors of various things.

As it says in the title.

I have a local farmer friend who is always happy to help people around here with various things.
A few months ago he brought me a 500mm diameter short log for my wife to use as part of a woodland burial display at work (She works for an undertakers business)

Anyway, tonight he delivered two 8 foot Silver Birch logs I had bought off him and we got chatting about my number plate collection and asking him if he collected anything weird (we all do I guess) he replied miniature Toby Jugs and livestock labels from around the world..... the ones you usually find in sheep, cattle, pigs etc's ears.

I told him I would post on here to see if anyone had any to send him.
Pretty much anything is good, as he says, they are all different. Indicating different farms, regions and various info.

If anyone has any and are prepared to pop them in the post to me to give to Charlie, I would appreciate it greatly.

Please PM me if you have any and want to send them over, then I will give you an address.

Thanks a lot.

I will try to remember to keep my eyes opened for them. I was a crop farmer but am around livestock a bit now.

Would he prefer them without the ear? :D

Hi Slow, I do not think he has any chips in his collection yet.

I am sure that he would really appreciate one.

Speaking as a farmer's daughter, farmers grow plants, RANCHERS grow livestock.

Just saying. ;)

What about an ear tag from a black bear? I am lucky enough to work with bears in my job and get old tags from time to time.

NOW THAT WOULD JUST BE INCREDIBLE !!

With a username like Grizz you should realize I think you are very fortunate.

If you were able to find him one of those I suspect he would be blown away.

Pm me an adress and I will drop one in the mail. If I can find one I will send a picture of the bear and include what I know about the bear.

Hi Kevin

Well. Postman Chris delivered a parcel today.

Contained a pair of tags, new and used from a Grizzly Bear.

Texted Charlie who came to collect.

He was blown away.

Could not stop saying "Wow Man!!"

Thank you so much. You made his day.

I'll ask our neighbor, how about one from Scotland!
Can't promise anything as all cattle in the UK have a passport and controls are pretty tough. It's now a paperwork nightmare for the farmers here.
With all these controls in place the beef is fantastic however horse meat ends up in 100% beef mince :x .....

Whenever I tag them I joke about giving them jewelry, and that all the young girls can't wait to get their piercings, and they should be happy they are getting them for free instead of having to pay for them.
