Thanks! I was really looking for a wider pinstripe, but was to cheap (it was like $30 for 35 feet, and I needed 40 feet), so I bought this, but didn't realize it was double, I started putting it in and loved it! Today I worked on my shore power connector. Couldn't find one locally so I used a 1-1/4 threaded plastic fitting with the slip coupling cut off, and epoxied a male plug in it. I will mount it flush and have an outside electrical box cover that will go over the front of it.

Making headway, still hoping to leave for our first trip Monday. Installed AC, shore power, interior and porch light, finished hatch latch. Started wiring trailer lights and had a horrifying realization. I ran the wiring for tail lights and front running lights in the roof... Before I closed it up I tested all end points for continuity, but failed to check for shorts between the legs. Apparently my left turn signal wire and running lights are shorted together at a splice. My options are to pull an interior panel, which I really don't want to do, but it would be the right thing to do, or abandon the turn signal lights in the roof and run new wiring under the trailer, which at this point I am planning on. Lesson learned!

Finished running lights, installed laminate flooring (well most of it). Couple things on my list for today then heading to the beach for a week!

First trip down the road a success! No problems towing once my car realized it had a load and adjusted accordingly. Set up and ready for some beach time!

My fingers are showing the portion I cut off. I haven't actually hooked up the cables yet. My handle is about 5" higher than the latches, I plan on putting an aluminum sleeve in one of my ribs where the cable will come thru at an angle to give it something to ride on besides wood. I'll post more pics when I get it finished. Also, now that I have the strike plates adjusted better (had to move them out from the wall a bit to get a good hold) they hold real well, and am glad that they will be accessible from my tail light holes if I ever have any issues.

Perfect. This is exactly the idea I needed. I want to do the same thing you are doing with the two latches on each side and a T handle in the center and I wasn't sure what to use for the latch part. I prolly have a few of those in a box in my basement somewhere.

Here is what has been worrying me (you've addressed it as well) and I have an idea on how I might address it. If the handle fails or either latch fails etc...I am SCREWED. I would have no way to get the hatch open. Soooooo, here is my idea. Put a threaded insert into the sidewall right at the spot where the latch engages when it is shut. Put a hex head bolt into the threaded insert with a little thread locker (you should hopefully not need to use it and you don't want it to wiggle out). The smaller the better here so it isn't really obvious. You could even inset it so you could put a little button cap over it.

Then, if you have a failed latch, you can use an hex wrench and screw in the bolt to depress the latch until it can open.

I don't plan on using the latch as a security device so for me, the "security breach potential" is not a concern. I have two over center latches (from Grant) under the bottom of the hatch to secure the hatch with locks if I want to keep people out of my stuff.

I haven't even started installing anything for the latches (other than the over center latches under the edge) so any feedback would be greatly valued.

I'm thinking if you are going to go thru the haste of all that the hex head would be overkill, and maybe even get in the way of the intended purpose (you screw it in to disengage the latch, but if you go to far it will be in the way of opening the hatch, not to mention finding your hex he'd wrench when you need it most. You could just have a hole with a cap, and use anything small enough to pop the lock if needed. Simple, effective, I might just implement this on mine.

Maybe a little hole big enough for a coat hanger is all you need. OK...so maybe I will complicate even a hole for a coat hanger...check this out.

from the inside, drill a small hole through the wall EXACTLY where the hole needs to be to do the job. Then, fill the hole and make sure you can kind of tell where the hole was. Then, if it really comes to an emergency, drill out the hole and poke in a coat hanger! This would only really be feasible if you don't use an aluminum skin as a hole in the aluminum might not be as easy to conceal.

Haven't worked on the trailer for a while, to busy using it! My brother found a fridge at a garage sale for $20, so I had him grab it. I say to big, wife says it stays, I guess it stays!
