aluminum trailers

I am looking at lightweight ct's. Has any one done mods on a aluminum trailer? What fasteners would you use to prevent corrison from dissimilar metals? I'm thinking rivits but worried about having to remove panels for wiring repairs or new mods.

I chose to run 2 conductor copper wiring instead of frame grounding. If you did this it would avoid any problems with dissimilar metals in frame grounding. It's not much more difficult to run and it ensures lower voltage loss on long runs. IMHO you shouldn't worry about the frame grounding on the trailer's driving light since they're low amperage and not used that much.

I used aluminum rivets into aluminum wall studs. No problem removing them if needed. They drill out about as fast as a screw gun can remove screws.

For panels that will removed alot, put in some nutplates. They are just nuts that have flanges so it can be riveted into place, and you don't need to back-up the nut to tighten or loosen.
