Where should the power center be located? Galley or cabin?

I'm planning out my camper and I'm undecided if I want the power center (I'm going to use a Progressive Dynamics 4045) in the galley, for noise abatment, or in the cabin for weather protection. I don't want to have to run outside, clear the galley (especially if I have a table extension or similar that connects to the galley countertop) and close the hatch in the middle of a sudden storm, but I also want to avoid any hums, noises or extra heat while we sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My PD 4045 produces no noticeable heat or noise. It is in the cabin, right next to my head and I don't hear anything.

The only time the PD fan should be on is during times of battery charging, which probably won't be while you're sleeping.

I installed my PD 4045 facing the galley but I close everything up at night. Food goes inside the galley with tailgate and hatch closed and latched while the other stuff stays outside in containers under the EZ-up or inside the TV. My cabin cabinet door behind the PD opens for access to all my AC and DC electrical distribution. I have never heard my PD fan running at night but I stay plugged in to campground power all the time. Also, it is easier to access my breakers and master DC switch from the galley than from inside the cabin.

Why don't you put it in the galley with a pass-thru door/opening in the cabin. It can be a door in the back of one of your cabinets.

Ours came in the galley and with the rear tarp an galley hatch up I do not worry about water. Most of the other electrical is there as well, progressive Industries electrical management system Morningstar RM1 meter, pump switch, water heater switches gas detector.

I put mine in the galley. If I had to do it over, I would have put it in an upper galley cabinet instead of a lower pull out drawer. But it's all good.
