The National Park Service has always had trouble obtaining the money they need. Our Nation should do more to protect our natural resources. With the war goin on in the middle east, each federal agency's budget is getting cut to the bone.

The National Parks can recover in future years, but in places where there is severe fire hazards, those areas need the money to clear lands, etc. to protect them from flash fires. Right now the panhandle of Texas and most of New Mexico is in a severe fire condition. I spent two nights in New Mexico camping the last two days, and it rained on us for two hours one night. In the morning the ground was dry! The moisture evaporated! Nothing was wet in the morning! I've never seen anything like it.

Back on the National Park issue. I visited Niagra Falls some years ago and went to the US and Canadian sides of the falls. On the US side, it is a National Park. Compared to the Canadian side, our side was very embarrassing to say the least. The Canadian side wasn't a park, but it catered to the tourist and the falls.

That is surely a tough observation on the Nat Parks issues. I think the Falls might be an exception. Most of Canada's parks are left mostly natural like the American Falls are. ie Jasper, Lake Louise. The developed Canadian Falls is cool for the tourist industry, but certainly takes away from its natural beatuty. I grew up only knowing how it presently looks, but seeing the movie Niagra with Marilyn Monroe, makes me wish the Falls still looked undeveloped. I wish there was a TD campground with a Falls view. Just my 2 cents. 8)

There is on the US side. Just park your Teardrop in the parking lot facing the falls.

"Gotta save our pennies somewhere if were (sic) going to start another war."

-- I'm sorry, I just hate that whole notion even if it is supposed to be irony, sarcasm or black "humor."

This will probably be my last post here ever and it may not stay up long, but the world needs more teardrops, more campers, more parks, more wildlife, and a whole awful lot less wars. We have cut and cut and cut and cut in the government and the services and the infrastructure and the bill is coming due.

Build while you can. Enjoy while you're able. Keep the "bug-out" philosophy in mind with your trailer as well.

Laredo,

With as many posts as you have and IF you looked at my profile then you should know where I am coming from. So before you eject off this great board. Do a little investigating. When my fellow Rangers and Park people lose jobs, one really needs to look at what our administration is doing.
I guess I could never visit this board again because you corrected my spelling or whatever but you know what..... I love this board, I love my job and I love camping and when I write my check for my taxes in the memo line I write "only to be used in the parks".

I am the one that asked what your occupation was,
when i checked your profile yesterday it wasnt listed / shown,
I did investigate,
I wanted to "know where youre coming from"
To often people are to brief in their posts,
(which can lead to confusion)

Budget cuts for disorganized groups are easy. We have no national lobby, like the defense industry or the pharmacuticals do..... the more organized a group, the more pressure they can exert to keep the gov't funds flowing.
