Other options to spray adhesive

I used a contact spray adhesive to put this black vinyl onto cherry veneer which was stained and had a coat of spar urethane. well after teh first day it came apart, i tried to clamp in place for a week and still not stayingput. so thinking of maybe some shallow staples. use permanent marker on them.

I have some left over vinyl and was also thinking of trimming the exposed ends in teh galley to give it a better finished look.

Hmmmmm... I have always had very good luck with the spray adhesive. I always us 3M and I can't recall having a failure. The white, waterborne crap that they sell at the BORG, for Formica, is garbage and I will never use it again.

yes it was 3m that i used. having never done this before i did my research.

Gorilla Snot, otherwise known by the name on the box, 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Stringy, gooey, stuff in a tube. Tricky to deal with, but will last for 100's of years.

Did you use a solvent to clean the surface(s) you are applying the adhesive to?
Did you scuff the urethane to help allow the glue to grip the surface?
Did you coat both surfaces and allow the glue to dry before adhering the vinyl?
If the back of the vinyl is very porous, you may need to apply a couple coats to the vinyl and let them dry before proceeding with the actual glue up.
