One-off "Shrunk-Bunk" needs a new home!

Postby Roly Nelson » Sun Jul 21, 2013 5:10 pm

I plan to build another teardrop on a HF trailer frame. Problem is, I already have a near-new HF frame, but my Shrunk-Bunk is sitting upon it. Therefore, if someone wants a 4 ft long, 2 ft high, TD that expands to 4 feet high and sports a 7 foot bed, let me know. I just want the price a new HF trailer and the cheap material used in this trailer, so I can order another and get to building again. Now where else can you get a near-new camping trailer for such a cheap price? When in towing configuration, you can haul mountain bikes on it's low roof. Contact me so we can finalize a deal.

I am new to the TD's. Do you have any pics? Not sure I understand the concept of this.

Sorry no pics, don't understand how to do it, I'm lucky I can even post on the board. OK, I will try to be more informative about the little camping trailer. It sits on a 48" by 40" Harbor Freight trailer with 12 inch wheels. It's concept is kind of like two boxes with open tops (or bottoms), with the upper one slightly larger, so it slides down over the lower unit, which is fixed to the trailer frame and floor. It simply lifts into position, one end at a time, creating a 4 ft high, two part box, of sorts. It has 2 windows, a 24 inch square roof hatch, that allows standing up while changing clothes. Out over the tongue, there is a rain-proof quarter circle extension that swings out to create a bed 7 feet long, which is fine for one person or two skinny friends. A two-sectioned door allows for easy entrance.

Once in the raised position, the rear hatchlid is raised and from the rear exterior of the lower "box", a hinged cabinet swings up to the vertical position complete with 3 drawers and ample cabinet space. A countertop flips up from the rear, which is hinged to the exterior and two small side tables can be fastened to the metal flat-topped fenders, which are now 36 inches above the ground. The roof of the trailer has sturdy cross members on the exterior with holes for tie-down ropes in the event bikes or a canoe is loaded on board. It's painted brown, because that is the paint that I had the most of. Suit yourself about your desired color. You won't find a cheaper teardrop anywhere. It's so low, I can't see it in the rear view mirror and the ease of pulling it, is like having an adult in the back seat.
