Not sure what the ceiling has as it was already done when I bought the trailer. Probably similar stuff though
It sits in the florida sun all day long
It takes about an hour in the heat of the day if I try and cool it off after it gets really hot. Ounce the humidity is reduced inside it really feels a lot better. It will still be a bit warmer in the back of the trailer until it runs for probably 2-3 hours

You might consider placing a small oscillating fan about mid CT. We have done this for years in all our RVs to help with circulation. It should cut your cool down time by about 50%. It did for us. :fan:

Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!

thats pretty good for only 8,000 Btu in full sun at 90 deg ....
Did not think a small unit would work that well

don't worry about the front install, worst case after 50,000 miles you get a few stuck bugs.
I would however recommend not driving uncovered in the poring rain

when I get my insulation done, I'll let you know how mine turns out....
as bodies and appliances also produce some heat - not in my calculation.

im hoping 7 x 18 will do 100 deg full sun, with 5,000 btu on only solar
so far so good on shore power test & with empty trailer, but not sure if it works as well
because the inverter & charge controller make some heat also ?

Thanks for the input. I did do a test run with a 6500 btu window unit that was the same size as my 8K. It helped but didn't get it cool as I would like. The 8K only pulls around 7 amps and is the exact same size physically.

Question about why you installed it on the front, aren't you concerned
about damage to the cooling fins on the condenser? Perhaps you've designed
a cover for it you haven't fabricated and have ready to show us yet.

I know, I stressed about that for a while but decided I wanted mount it permanently so I could lock it down solid and seal it up real good. I am concerned about the issues of having it on the front but am determined to figure out a way to make it work. Funny enough I noticed one of the crappy gray plastic storage bins I had in my garage actually fit over it pretty well....Gonna have to see what we can do with that.
I figured worse case if I don't have anything worked out by Monday it will be trash bag and ratchet strap style :)

I was thinking along the lines of some aluminum sheet metal, a piece of piano hinge
and maybe a bungee or something else to hold it in place while traveling.
Just throwing a thought out.
