Hello from Orygun

Postby dexstrom » Thu Aug 01, 2013 5:11 pm

I found this site while thinking about a cargo trailer conversion. Then my wife found information on the Backpacker 2 built by Three Feathers Mfg. and persuaded me to buy not build. We picked it up at the factory in La Grande, Oregon and I've been adding enhancements like LED lights, canopy and fans. I've been curious about teardrops for years but we wanted a little more storage and head space in our camping adventures. A trailer better suits our camping style than our pop-up camper on a pickup did. Looking forward to learning all about small trailer camping and many years of adventures on the road.

Hello and congrats! I purchased a Three Feathers teardrop "Pinecone". See the link in my signature below. I live in Longview, WA. Three Feathers makes a nice sturdy rig and are well built. I too am customizing my trailer, hoping to add a Yakima roof rack and solar panel. I will need to stop by the factory in La Grande, OR to consult with the owner on the roof rack. His name is Mel (if I recall correctly) and he is a very nice person to work with.

Welcome to the forum and hope to see you on the road. Better yet, be sure to check out the Teardrops of Oregon and Washington website and get signed up for the newsletter, and see the calendar of events. http://www.teardroptrailers.org/

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I talked with Mel at the factory and he is a nice person top deal with, we showed up one day earlier than the dealer told him but he put his people on the last details on our trailer and had it ready to go quickly. The picture is a little out of date, all the the Backpacker 2 have dual cargo doors on the back, not the lift door as shown. The lift door proved to be too cumbersome so they offer the cargo doors standard now. A bonus was that our axle has brakes, we got that at no extra charge! I'll head over to the TOW website and sign up, I refer to the BP2 as a Teardrop on steroids 8)
