Ya I saw that posted over in the other forums. Man that tuff. But I can top that.
I got a 6-64 in the mail and Red metal case All I wanted was the case. The pictures on E-bay were so poor and fuzzy ( cell phone ) and at bad angles, I thought some one is bad at this or trying to hide the true condition of the lantern. Min bid $19.00, Buy Now $90. The cap was green and it took a bit to see but the burner cap was missing, and no bail. Could not tell if the Generator was in there or not. There might be a hint of Red on the globe in the original pictures so no telling what the globe looked like. The description said all in tack and nothing missing. I Figured I would not waste my time. 5 day goes by. No one is watching the lantern ( at least as added it to their watched list, ebay now track that ). I checked again 24 min until the end of the auction someone added it to there watched list. Checked again 3 min left, still no Bid. I figured I throw the Min bid in there just to see if I get it, But now I’m thinking I really wanted the case for my D-day lantern. 2 Min, I typed in the Min Bid and wham. It happened someone beat me to it and started bidding. Damn! 1 min 30s, Think how much is that case worth to me. Damn! 1 Min left. Man I needed another lantern like I need another hole in my head. 37 second. Ok this guy bidded $20 and I’ll go $22, and Max Bid $40.
When the dust settles I won. the bid $39.00 Guess his Max was $38 Ha ahaha. Got that lantern in yesterday. The case is almost perfect. Little scuff on the top and the feet. Original paper work still stapled and folded all together. Despite the Green cap and the crooked label the lantern is great, it been used but not that much. The burner cap was in the bottom of the case so was the bail. Took off the fuel cap and I saw rust. Looked closer and the rust came from the green cap. The tank look great in side. The Vent is near perfect. Just three small chips around one Bail hole. And the Globe... Ya the Globe A beutiful 49 year old Red letter curved PYREX labeled globe.

Man what a score I need this globe on one of my B-day lanterns. Man what a score. Let me wash some of this suit off the globe. Now here is where this long story ties in to Mukilteo post above. I was washing the globe in the sink, running a steady stream of warm water over it. The water starts to get Hot, so I turned it down a bit. “PLINK” was all I heard. The globe cracked on the side. Just a little cracked but it cracked. The temperature change kill the globes. Never wash your globe under running water where the temperature on one side of the globe is not the same as the other, and don’t go for hot to cold. That small cracked has now ran all over the globe like a drunk snell slowly over the course of the night. I’m still pissed at myself.

Well Now at least I got a beater lantern that I can use when camping on a mountain side.
