We did one "major seasoning" meaning we stripped the old seasoning off and started fresh (right or wrong, we just ran it through a self cleaning cycle in the oven...it comes out all rusty looking. A quick wash and you've for clean iron)
We did a normal process of heating, wiping down (while hot I melt the wax)
And baked at 375 for a hour and a half or so, turning the item over about half way through to prevent pooling. Then seasoning several times to build up a nice layer
We will periodically wipe new wax on after use to keep building the carbon layer.

If you've already got a good season built, I can't see a reason to strip it....ours has hosed up.
Yes, you will smell honey when you start the process. No, it won't last. Everything will taste 100% bee free when your done.
