Noobie from the Atlanta area by way of Northern CA. Love the forum. You sound like a great bunch of folks and I've learned a ton already. Not only that, but I've been super impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship I'm seeing. My wife and I have been backpacking and tent camping forever but we're very new to the whole TD thing. So new in fact that neither of us have ever actually laid eyes on one in the flesh. But we think it's for us. I love all kinds of things but the only thing I'm any good at or have the tools for is woodworking, so hopefully that will help some.

We're doing it. Someday. But for now, I'm lurking, learning, and planning. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the great info you all have taken the time to post.

Welcome, I am at the state line between GA and AL. and I had never seen one either and after reading the whole forum from Oct to Feb I finally got the true understanding and got busy buying the necessary parts and things and got busy and built my own. So..... you can do it!!!! I never saw one myself till I went to the CRA in IN this last month and saw a whole lot of them, of every size and description. I know there is a tearjerkers gathering in late September you might want to take a ride and go up and join the craziness. You can go to the Tearjerkers forum and check out the Dixie chapter.
