Mr. Incredible and Scooby team up to bend the 1/4 inch plywood on my galley hatch with the help of a couple ratchet straps. The wet towels make bending the plywood a lot easier. Humidity in Las Vegas runs about 5%. That makes for dry membrane nose bleeds if you aren't used to it and really dry brittle lumber.

Thanks. It fits ok. Some thick hatch seal rubber gasket and a big piece of 2 inch angle and all will be right.

Looking great. That's a nice teardrop shape. I like the profile. Yep, bending dry plywood is difficult in warm areas. Same here in Reno. Though, not so harsh as LV. keep up the good work.

Humidity at 5% sounds great right now. The southeast is awash in rain this summer. Everything is getting moldy. My bumpers are green!

Good job on the tear. Just remember. If you don't point out the mistakes, no one will notice them.

Thanks and that is good advice. Every time I do a home improvement project, everyone raves about it, but all I see are the flaws. I need to appreciate the projects for the overall effect, not the flaws that only the builder can see.

My tear is not even finished yet and I am already going to remodel it. At first I had planned on putting the AC cooler in one of the inside cabinets with a hinged vent through the side wall and slides to push it out for use. Great theory and I might have worked good, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut that big of a hole in my side wall. So, I cut a hole through the galley wall and put it through to the kitchen. When I roughed in the unit, I figured out that destroyed about 1/3 of my lower kitchen storage... And I read about all the heat rejection problems people have with AC mounted there. The only solution to that is vents through the floor...

Here is where I have it now...



In this picture you can see where it takes up most of the lower left storage cubby. That is right where my cook top was going! And they both will not fit.



So, I am moving it to the front center of my tear. It will go in just above the headboard cabinet and vent through the front. It will end up being just above the tongue box. I will cover the outside in a removable box to match the front tear shape. The box will clip off when I want to use the AC.

It is going centered over these front headboard cabinets..



And will pop out right on top of this tongue box. I will have to rework the tongue box access, probably front access doors, or maybe side...



Think that will work? I sure hope so because tomorrow morning, out comes the big drill and saber saw!

Got the AC unit roughed in. Still wondering if I should mount it fixed in place with a hinged box cover, or put it on slides and make a hatch for it.
