At the end of the MG installation , I insisted the wife check it out ... she looked at it , ran her hand over the countertop and shelf , pulled the WB drawer out back and forth... she liked the fact it was deep and start suggesting what we could put in it .. Then she said we need a bigger ice chest (for the drinks ) ... The woman does have her evac priorities... :wine:

So It PASSED inspection... 8)

I'd have to have an dedicated Abita Turbo Dog cooler.

GPW, I thought of you yesterday when visiting my parents. We're all in GA now but Dad told a story about when we moved from NOLA to Arkansas back in 1966. Parents took us fishing. Dad stopped to buy bait & my sister went in with him. The guy ahead of them was buying crawfish. My sister blurted out, "Dad! He's going to use the crawfish as bait! He's not going to eat them?!" Guess she was experiencing culture shock  I was only 3 so spared the horror.

K, I remember my first experience with a crawfish ( I was 5) ... Somehow one got in the bathtub , My parents Freaked Out thinking it was a Scorpion , and poured boiling water over it ... little did we know then we’d be boiling and eating these later ...

Got the MG painted despite the rainy weather ... (inside work) All done ...
The only things left to do is wire the lights , install some reflectors , add the mud flaps , and paint the bottom with the BNS ... still dread that part ... I get dizzy lying on my back painting ... :? Then it’s off to the State Police for a number and to MV for the tags ...
The 40 mile shakedown cruise (to the State Police office) should be interesting and really tell how it tows ... It does have a positive tongue weight (I can’t pick it up without hurting something) , so should tow fine ... Only one way to tell ...

Later on I guess we’ll get around to replacing those springs and jacking the trailer up a bit for better tire clearance... I know this is totally Silly , but would like to replace the tires with those little FAT pop-up tires .... they just looks so COOL !!! 8) ... and likely would automatically give me more clearance and a lower profile ... Maybe one day ...

Purple is Out , for now anyway :o ... The “salvage" paint color won out for Thrifty .... and BTW , I just had enough for the job and a little left over for touchups ... 8) Thrifty is a powerful influence when you’re a member of the 99% The neutral color now will be a good base coat for any re-decoration later...

BTW , we went through 6.25 gal of Gripper ... Tried to clean the 5 gal. bucket out , but the dried Gripper stuck fast to the sides ... Sticky stuff .. Also used some on the balcony re-paint ... It is a really Good primer...and a somewhat questionable glue ...

Mary, no decisions on the bed/sofa as yet ... Been looking around at various things... Haven’t found any suitable commercial offerings (that I can afford) . The wife and I talked about me getting some foam rubber sheets and sewing up some durable covers for them (gotta’ dust off the old hand cranked Singer )... That might be the only way we can get what we want ... Basically just two large cushions , ~ 30” X 75” Stackable during the day (sofa) ... maybe some covered buttons , just to add a little “touch” and keep the covers from getting messy ( I make those too) ... that and a lot of decorative pillows ... we already have Lots of those ... All removable for storage and cleaning in between disasters... ...

KC, Thanks , just trying to keep it Simple and utilitarian ... Likely we won’t be doing any exotic cooking in the trailer ... Usually , wherever we stayed in the past , I had the full run of their kitchens , cooking large meals and baking for everybody ... sorta’ Chef on the run ...   All my friends across the country have contacted me and said they’re ready for my cooking ... So we’ll have a choice of many places to stay ... By popular request , I’ll have to bring my Pizza pans ... everybody wants my Pizza... and breads ... Guess if I didn’t cook or paint , nobody would have anything to do with us... :o

They’re Quite PRICY !!!! :o   Just the foam :o Time to summon up some creativity or I’ll be sleeping on the floor ...again... not the first time for that eh , but it’s been quite a while now ... :frightened: Good we have all those pillows ... What are youze’ guys sleeping on ... ?

I have a 4" queen size pillow top from Wally World online, $100 on top of 3" camping foam from Fred Meyer. Not bad.
To err is human, to really foul up requires a computer

The Orange Box store had 4" foam slabs for 25.00. Pretty decent firmness. It's what I used for cushions.

Bonnie , Thanks , I’ll check on that
Mary ... That’s a good find/gift !!! ;)

All the foam I was looking at would have run over 200USD for each one , just for the foam ... I did too much reading and was looking at the “Good" foam  ... which is really Not needed in this case ... Now I’m actually re-thinking the whole situation , because the trailer will not be used all the time , and the bed must be stored in the house ... Considering something like a pool float cushion with a little memory foam over it ... with a washable cover ... Thin , light , easy to store ... more like a bedroll than a mattress  Although the original drawing showed a more Trundle bed arrangement ... Likely this won’t happen now ... which saves space and WEIGHT...
And like the wife says , if we need something better , we can always shop for it “on the road” ... That gal Loves to shop !!!

Now , for a little bit of EVAC news ... historically , on average we get a small storm around Aug. 10 , so we lucked out there... and the Big ones come around Sept 4 ,and so we prepare while we wait ...an active season is still predicted. Nothing unusual , I remember my Grandmother talking about the “storms of September” ... :frightened:
