OK, I "pulled the trigger" and had a deal set up on a 6x12 V-nose Pace American Journey. I went by the get coverage and chit chat led to me stating I was converting it to an RV/Camping trailer. I was told that if I modified it in any way the adjuster would rule it a "Home built", void the coverage, and refuse any losses.
I explained that I was not altering the structure of the trailer itself, not even adding windows. in fact I planned it for dual purpose, IE, the RV style Items will be built as easily removable components.
"any appliances?" i was asked, "yes dorm fridge and microwave built into a removable cabinet.
"Any Stove?", "No stove."
"Plumbing?" "No, None"
" Any wiring?" "No."
"Then How are you going to power the fridge and microwave?" " a hole drilled in the floor for an extension cord.
The ruling was "The adjuster would see the hole and rule it a home built and refuse"
Now, I am new at this, is this really normal? I mean they insured it, and even placed on the application that I would be living in the unit for 30 days a year. ( they asked me I stated 30 days and did not call it to their attention, it does appear on the application, LOL). Anyone else have this problem?
Who do ya'all recommend to insure these conversions? Any good online places?
Thanks
