Well, the passenger side leaf spring isn't broken after all. It's just made differently from the driver side spring :?

After disassembling the pass. side spring from the axle, I found that it's intact with no evidence of breakage or leaf slippage. The pass. side spring overhangs the eye in the rear (and front) like this

But the driver side doesn't overhang at all, like this
111609

The design is unique, with the lower shock mounting bracket welded to the U-Bolt and a custom saddle bracket made up to fit (from a couple of pieces of frame angle iron!

I'm not positive that I can get a new spring made that will fit the saddle correctly, and would hate to have to have new saddle brackets fabricated.

I think I'm going to just wire brush the whole works and reassemble with a couple of new shocks (if I can find something suitable) and call it macaroni.
