Newbie from Quadra Island, BC

Hello All;
I stumbled upon this site while researching light weight trailer construction. My 15 year old daughter and I are just starting out on converting a very small utility trailer into a micro-gypsy caravan for her. We are still early in the planning stages and looking at options for design, construction method, everything! But first, we have get the 19 year old daughters' 15' stitch and glue dory finished and out of the workshop! She (the 19 year old) built it it from scratch including scarfing the plywood, torturing the panels together and epoxying them, melting lead for the centreboard, you-name-it!

Ironically for a semi-retirement job I occasionally pick up new towable RVs at the factory and deliver them to the local dealers. Most of them are over 25' long and weigh more than 6,000 lbs. I don't actually own one, just deliver them. And I think the small trailers on this site are way cooler! I'm looking forward to learning more about tiny trailers, from this site.

David.

Welcome from Scotland.
The info and advice here is awesome. IMHO planning is the critical but fun part. I've changed a few things but hung onto the overall design idea. The build sequence is also worth planning, so you don't end up installing something and then have to remove it and re doing stuff. mines not perfect but learning and living every minute.

Consider building by erecting he inside walls first unlike tradition house building. I've a few videos to show what I mean.

Good luck and enjoy it!
