Honestly it cost more for me to own dogs then horses. Food is one of the most expensive things plus vet bills for the dogs. Horses, well 1 bag of feed will last me a long time, probably 2 months? I only give them a handful (ponies even though one is technically a horse breed). I have 2 nice pastures, so I hay even in summer, but I can skip the hay or skip the feed, and I can rotate pastures. Winter I do have to hay a lot more, but overall I think its cheaper to have horses then dogs. The farrier is the major expense for me with horses, because he has to come out every other month, $70 a pop for two. So that is 420 a year. but I know I pay way more than that in my dogs food, again for me its cheaper for my horses then my dogs.

Manure? no problem, I have an old chain link gate that we have wood blocks attached to, we made a spreader out of it (thrifty), we just hook it to the riding mower and driver over the piles and spread them out. Great fertilizer. We do have another pile, well several actually, that we use as compost. So it doesn't really get wasted. Those piles are great to stick your potatoes in and let them go. When its time you just go collect you some tators. :D

My horse vet will do normal vaccines on the dogs when he makes the farm call, but I never seem to have them all together on that timing, which makes me have to do the office visit with dogs.

Yes, those 1 yr rabie shots are the same as the 3 yr ones, which I just don't understand why when you get a 1 yr shot, you then in one year have to get another one, when they are good for 3. Over vaccinating our pets. I do not follow the rules with my dogs and their shots. I will do most of the puppy shots, then I will decide with my vet after that when and what my dogs will get, but I make that decision, not my vet or the upper powers to be. I will not be one of those that over vaccinates my dogs.

Sorry for getting off track. I just get riled up when it comes to these shots, my hubby hates going to the doctors when I take my son. He says I embarrase him. lol But its my job to protect my son, my pets and my livestock. its a job I take seriously.

GPW...your painting looks great!! Love it.

Spanish Moss .... Hmmm??? We found clipping those stray threads was much easier after they had been painted ... guess the same as we’d do (now} for cutting canvas with a little glue on the cut to prevent fraying ... ;)

I’m still waiting for “Veticare “ for Older pets  ... although there is already Health Insurance for the pets ...

Eagle, Thanks , I’m still making some little “touches" to it (more tiny stars and moon work ) ... Can’t wait to get the chipboard for the front , finish that off ...
If we get a break this season (Lucky so far :NC ) , we’ll have more time (almost a year) to sort out the bedding situation ... and a little more decorating ... and maybe a little time for some "backyard camping" to try it all out ... see how everything works ...

Laid the light wiring kit out ... just long enough  ... We are running a separate Ground wire all the way to the back , just to make a better connection for a longer time ..

I absolutely love the night sky painting. Just think, you still get to star gaze even if it is raining.

Bill Thanks !!! Who needs a “Moonroof” eh ....   And, as intended , nobody looks at the “make do and mend” foamwork' on that nose ...

Well, the FS is reaching it’s conclusion .. and maybe just in time too ... :o The peak of the Storm season is here , disturbed air systems flowing off Africa waiting to develop... :frightened: But it looks like we’’ll be READY !!! Legal or not , if the “Big one” comes .... I’m outta’ here... :vroom:

And speaking of ... that old Coleman isn’t that that old ... I flipped it over and the date code was 4/83 , so just 30 years ... Still in great shape , doesn’t look a day over 29 and a half ...

My main stove is a 425 from 83/84 and it has been used a lot. a whole lot. I had to replace the pump as the original pump cup was made of neoprene and it just did not last. Put in a pump with real leather ( thanks Hodder ) and it is back again. If I was you I would make sure it will pump up and the fuel cap is not leaking. Only use car gas in an emergency and dump it out as soon as you can ( or burn it off ) Then some fresh Coleman fuel. Keeps them happy.

Like your moon roof a whole bunch

Hmmm??? Never thought of using gas in my ice chest or pumping it up ... Sorry!!! Just being Silly (again ) ... We had a Coleman lantern (several really) and a stove too .... but chose not to use them , preferring flashlights and campfires ...I’m just not a Propane guy ...
Have you guys ever made camp torches ?? Those are Fun and easy , and really illuminate the area... Primitive...

Well, it’s been dry (no rain) a couple days now , so I took some time off from building to work on other things inside ... We’ve been ignoring things we were supposed to do , just so we could work on the trailer ... :o Catching up on that now ... ;)

Today is Katrina’s birthday (landfall) .... Just remembering why we came here in the first place ... :frightened:

re the whole 'legal' thing... for its intended use... given the amount of chaos going on, I really don't think the troopers are going to be inspecting trailers that closely... BUT they might notice if you didn't have a license plate on it.

Getting out of town is pretty chaotic... Coming back is another story ... :o We’re close now to getting legal ... :D Everything goes right , we’ll be heading out to the State Police for numbers early next week , and then to MVB for the actual license plate ... All Good after that !!!

Got a great deal here .... $70.00 buys a Lifetime trailer plate ... 8) but it’s non transferrable ... :(

Wow, we pay about $30/yr (under 700kg) and I thought that was a pretty good deal, though I question the need for plates at all on small trailers except to generate $$.

All that generates $$$ , but what do they do with it ??? They’re always asking for MORE ... I must have mentioned before the City now requires a yearly Brake tag Inspection .... but the FS has no brakes ... :o  Basically a $30/yr. fee for a taillight inspection , which I do at home for free... more money grabbing ... :frightened:

Here’s how the HF cargo nets look in the FS ... It’s as if they were made for the trailer  .. "You know who" LOVES them ... Naturally so , it was her idea ... ;)
One was the 3’X5’ and the other small one was for motorcycles ...Less than 15 bucks for both including 9% tax ... 8)

Just thinking ... I could move the big cargo net overhead... Or maybe just get another one and do that too ... but then it would look like a DC-3 flying chickens to South America... :R ...
