Finding and installing windows

I am in the process of researching and then will buy at least two windows my CT even if I do not have the CT yet. I have seen many posts suggesting that I go to Ebay and look for them. This or buying them new are about the only options open to me as I not aware of any RV salvage facility near me.
I am looking for one about 30" L x 14-18" H for the side over the bed and another long and wide one (48H x 24L?) which I will locate next to the side door. This side window near the door will serve as an emergency exit should it be needed and will allow visibility to what is outside the door before opening it.
I am paranoid enough that I must have an emergency exit other then the rear barn doors and the camper style door.

My question is this - I notice that many of the windows in Ebay that I am interested in, say they do not have screens or inside trim. I think I am ok with not having screens in the windows but I am not sure about the implication of not having inside trim pieces. Does anyone think that is an issue I should be concerned with or is there a work around that one can use?

I've seen some great deals there by searching 'rv parts' or some such thing.

There are auto salvage yards that get RVs and part them out.

I think you'll be happier having the inside trim. That is like the molding around the base of your walls. If you don't get the matching trim it would be like having to do the trim work around a new house.

Be sure to pay attention to the thickness of the window frames too. The windows frames for my ToyBox are thicker than the walls. That means that I'm going to have to make up some trim to fit under the lip of the trim to take up the extra space. I don't mind doing that because I'm using nice ash lumber from trees that I removed to make the face frames for the cabinetry. This will be another opportunity to have real wood in the ToyBox. The shims are only going to have to be about 1/4" anyway.I have an idea of how to trim out the radiused corner too. That might be my project for tomorrow.

I will start looking at craigslist now and maybe try harder to find an RV salvage yard. Would like to see pictures of your trim work when completed.

As Treeview said I think you will be unhappy without trim rings. With the "rings" a much more professional finished look.

Thanks, trim rings are now on my required list. For the fun of it, I recently browsed thru new window sites and boy can they be expensive purchased new.

If I could do mine over, I would use a sabre saw (I think).......only had a sawzall available....the blade was difficult to control and made a bigger hole inside the door.......

One place to look is any local RV place that does insurance repairs
is sure to have some parts left over from repairs. Generally the guy
that does the repairs keeps parts that get swapped out for insurance
jobs. Some of those parts are in excellent condition and they might sell them
for a fraction of the cost of new or even C's-List.
Never hurts to ask...

The 18"x42" slider I got from Redneck Trailer Supply was only $80ish with trim ring. But I did buy it through our OEM account at work, so I may have gotten better pricing than off the street.

If you get 'clamp-ring' windows you will need the inside trim rings as they are what 'clamps' the window in place when screwed in. Other style windows are screwed in from the exterior and do not require a specific trim rim. Also keep in mind that with wall thickness and clamp ring windows the trim rings can be reversed to accommodate two different wall thicknesses. Good luck!

I have 2 windows and a door from a '07 Jayco for sale located in Virginia.
One window is 36X48 and has emergency egress. The other is 30X15. Both windows are crankout and have screens and trim ring. One crank is broken.
The door is 27X69 and has the screen door but no trim ring. The door screen is cut in the middle a couple of inches and the inside of the door has a small dent and crack where it was hit by something.
The AC is not available.

I wish you still had the AC unit.
I am not sure about the windows. I think I wanted black and I might investigate having the manufacturer do it. But I will keep your link just in case.
