Don't forget a shovel

The last time we were out in the Super Bee, we ran into a situation that I hadn't thought about. Our camp site was at the bottom of a slight grade such that the TV was still inclined when the camper was on a level area where we wanted it. This resulted in the tongue being lower than it would have been if the TV had been level so our tongue jack would not go down. Luckily, I had a small folding shovel that I had had for years in my TV toolbox so I was able to dig a trench for the tongue jack wheel to drop into. These little shovels are very compact and inexpensive and should be in every camper's box of spare tools and parts. I guess I could have done the same thing by using the tire jack but the shovel was easier to access and worked just as well.

If you live in or ever go to snow country, it's a good thing to have in your tow vehicle anyway, in case you ever get stuck.

Not a bad idea but...
I carry several 2" x 6 " x 10" wood blocks in the tongue box.
Some are doubled up with glue & screws.
I just place one in front/back of the rear tires and drive up on the blocks when the need arises.
Most campsites are paved anyway.
No need for a shovel & the blocks work in tandem with my scissor jack for leveling.
Have had a folding shovel in my pick up truck for 20 years and never had the need to use it.

I don't think I've ever stayed at a paved campsite.

Now, to extract myself from some campsites I've resorted to using bridging ladders...

A fellow once took exception to my smiling in reaction to the Mexican Polka Music blaring from his lowered rice burner. I don't like the music as it, after a short time, grates on my frazzled eighth cranial nerves. However, a few seconds of it does cause one to be uplifted and to smile/laugh a bit.

Anyway he seemed to want to start something UNTIL I brandished my USMC issue Entrenching Tool (ETool for short and in reality a cute little shovel with a reasonably sharp serrated edge). He then, thoughtfully, reconsidered his actions.

Them little shovels can come in handy in any number of situations.
