Free mdf, uses?

Postby RandyG » Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:47 pm

Just got some 1/8" mdf, 6' x 4'. Could I use it as my inner roof? Counter top? I know I can't use it on the outside, if it gets wet Im SOL. Just trying to make the best out of free material.

if you seal up the sides of it with a good paint/varnish it should be good for the center panels of cabinet doors. I would use a different wood for the rails around it. it is kind of thin for a counter base.

I was going to put it over my rough 1/2" ply that is my counter top now, just use it as a skin since its smoother.

What are you going o put on the counter for a finish? on my first I just used ply and glued the formica to it. If the ply is not that bad just give it a good sanding and fill larger voids with a hard wood filler.
