How do you vent your battery (s)

Postby Ron Dickey » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:30 pm

I am working on where to put my batteries and am working on where to put them.
(I do not have the batteries yet I am still working on that part too see viewtopic.php?f=30&t=57154)

That being said, Venting should be part of the design. And therefore the question comes to mind, of those of you who have batteries in your trailer how do you vent it.
I also wondered it anyone has made the vent part of the trailer design like those cool looking air vents you see on the side of cars?? 8)

Mine hang underneath in bolt-together cages that I fabricated from slotted steel angle. No venting required, and they're out of the way.

My initial plan was for the battery to be in the rear under the galley counter so that all my AC/DC wiring were in close proximity to my electrical cabinet. I became concerned about venting, but I also needed tongue weight. Ended up using a conventional battery box on the tongue so venting was not an issue. Just had to make a longer run of primary DC wiring from front to back and I did that inside the cabin using Wiremold conduit under the mattress.

Mine is under my tear also. I wouldn't want to use my dry space for a battery even if it didn't need venting:thinking:.

Don't vent and don't need to vent. I use an AGM sealed wheelchair type deep cycle battery. No vents in it. I do have it mounted in the tongue box but could put it anywhere.

Out the back of the tongue box. Openning covered with plastic mesh, i think from a gutter cover. Hidden by the tear. About 1" gap between box and tear.
