Hello all. My name is Steve Farling , and I'm from Hartford City. I joined the forum just a short time ago, and I think this is my third post. Anyhow, I'm getting ready to build a teardrop this fall/winter, and my wife Tammy and I would like to come up to the Potato Creek gathering on Saturday the 12th, introduce ourselves, and hopefully check out some of your teardrops. We are trying to get some ideas for our own build. I wanted to check and see if this would be an ok thing to do, instead of just dropping in. Thanks, Steve

Steve, By all means, come to see us at potato creek. This is the best way to see the teardrops up close and pick up some ideas for your build.

If you come Friday or Saturday you are welcome to share some of the party on Friday as well as the Pot Luck dinner on Saturday.

Come and enjoy yourself. You could also think about "Tent camping" if you want to stay over night.

The wife and I want to come! (Greg & Kim) Haven't been to one yet. Trying DESPARATELY to finish off our tear (?) in time for this. Well, campable. I still call it a tear, even though it's actually a modified campster 12.

Don't let not having a teardrop stop you. There are a lot of great ideas and pitfalls to avoid . We want to out first gathering about 3 years before we gave up and bought ours. The only thing that comes to mind is why did we wait.

I'm still trying to find the perfect camping spot....but we did wind up with just about the perfect compromise with the TD. Costs nearly nothing to pull, sets up faster than a tent, and it's warm enough on cool autumn evenings. Definitely, stop and say hi...

We are not bringing our tear with us this time. The better half decided it might be to cold so she said we are bringing the stand up I made. Come join the fun. Dont let the style of camper get in the way.

Too early to know about temperature. I remember one year at at the fall gathering in October, it was 90 degrees at midnight and 95 during the day. October can deliver almost any kind of weather.

But it's not to early to start thinking about food for the carry in. I'll be making ham & beans with cornbread.

Jim, the 90 degree (October temp) was one thing, but I remember last year at Mississinewa when it was about 55 (maybe) with 30 mph wind . Camping is like a box of chocolates....

It's all fun and if it was perfect; we'd have nothing to talk about.
