Perhaps a propane tank bracket like one from Adventure Trailer would work. It might be attached to the front of your tongue box or to the front of the teardrop.
http://adventuretrailers.com/acckitchen.html scroll down the page to see:
AT's aluminum propane bracket, sized to fit a 10 lb. propane tank.
Compact and light weight.
(DOT 10 lb cylinder 17.4" H x 8.9" diameter)
10lb Propane Bracket is $124.00

Or one from Helmar that is more affordable. http://www.helmarparts.com/product_p/tb-3.htm

Another choice http://www.suremarineservice.com/001-749.aspx
Powder Coated Aluminum Rail Mount Assembly (Tank not Included) for 6# Aluminum Propane Tank. Comes with Rail Mount Hardware, Rubber Bumpers and Tank Clamp. Use to Store Extra 6# Propane Tanks. Will fit 7/8" to 1" Rails.

Thanks for the links, but since I already started my bracket I might as well finish it. I still have a lot of time to think about because I won't be finishing it until next year.

That's a cute setup for a 5 pound bottle...

This is how I did it on one of mine...

I have my 2 1-gallon propane tanks in my diamond plate front box. Since propane if heavy air, I put the vent holes in the bottom of the box. (Actually, I had to put the holes in the bottom to mount the box on the stub of the tire mount that used to be there...). Anyway, it is still waterproof, except for rain spray that may get kicked up if we are travelling in the rain. I like the propane tanks out of sight; those little refillable tanks are EXPENSIVE! :frightened: I dn't want anyone walking off with them.

The best schemes that I have seen have a method of locking the bottle to the trailer, usually thru an existing hole in the bottom ring.

Wish I could remember who's build had this detail.

Thanks guys, good ideas all around. Would be nice to be able to keep the bottles safe because the darn little bottles are pretty spendy. I'm still impressed with all the talent on here. I'm glad I found this site, now my finished Teardrop is within sight next year when I can work on it again.
