Hot water on demand

We camped with friends that had a Coleman water heater. It worked well. I think it is about $200 and runs off the disposable propane bottles. You can also get on demand tankless waters for about the same but they require mounting by hanging or some other method.

We've had one for several years and like it very much.
We use the cheap Walmart plastic tubs for wash and rinse.
Now if we can remember to bring it along, we'd get more use out of it. Danny

Now's the time to pick up a Coleman on end of season close-out. I found mine a couple of years ago at 50% off in November. You can hook it to a bulk tank with the regular adaptor hose and save on the little bottles.

So how exactly does it work? It sure looks cool!

My suggestion would be to just pay the man for the Coleman Hot Water On Demand unit and save money elsewhere.

Those systems can be very good just have to make sure that it is installed correctly as fires have been known to happen.....
My parents have a hot tub that they made that uses one just tow it up to the cabin fill with snow and in an hour or two it is too hot
I have been debating them as well as they don't take up that much space but every new and cool idea I hear my trailer keeps getting smaller

Most of what I've read on these portable systems is they are not intended or recommend for indoor use although can be with proper ventialtion, both intake and exhaust. You would still need precautions for the open flame and the heat of the housing.

I suppose you could temorairily mount or place them outdoors and run the heated water through the normal inlet (if you even have one - if not I guess through a window or door) but would likely experienece some heat loss and pressure drop with the Coleman and Zoni battery powered pumps.

Are there higher priced systems that overcome these problems?

I am still a long way from that point. lots to do.

Are you thinking inside or outside installation or not even at that point yet?

I may just plan for a separate outside compartment with fully vented hatch/door similar to most mobile homes. It would be located behind the sink. The sink and the shower will share a common utility wall cavity so the plumbing from the heater would enter there.

Not I have to decide on a water pump for the fresh water or a pressurized tank.

I am mounting it behind the toilet, inside, vent the tube out the side if the camper near the top.

We have an instantaneous heater, and wouldn't be without it! It makes you human!! The small units do not get very hot, so can be hung just about anywhere with no worry of starting a fire. The only part that gets hot to the touch (momentarily) is the top vent. Our trailer has brackets built into it that work perfectly to hang the heater. It connects to a 5-gallon propane tank, with RV water hoses to connect from an outlet on the trailer to the heater, then from the heater to a hand-held shower head with an on/off valve. There is a 30-gallon tank in the trailer, and a 2.5 gal/minute on-demand pump (and of course a battery). You can get two comfortable showers out of 5 gallons (meaning not just a quick rinse, but one you can actually enjoy). We normally set up a TexSport shower tent, it's 4' square so plenty of elbow room. The water gets quite hot! Also good for heating dishwashing water.

Note that there is just one hose to the shower; you adjust the temp using controls on the unit that limit flame size and water flow rate. You could build one of these into a compartment in the side of a trailer, and just open the cover door when it's in use. But it's very little trouble to do it the way I do.

I'm thinking a coleman backpack stove/range on a coleman propane can, firing up into a wort chiller sold for home brewing and/or moonshining, with a water reservoir higher than the shower output/faucet, so it's gravity fed.
