Finally a side tent

Postby PKCSPT » Tue Jun 18, 2013 7:45 am

After looking for the least expensive side tent I could find I finally convinced myself to buy one. Not so easy to do when my husband doesn't camp so with money a little tight I feel a bit guilty buying something only I will ever use. However I now have room for the dog to sleep near by and not in my camper. Being 100 lbs it is a tight fit. Even better I have a room for the grandkids.

Now save a few dollars and it stops raining on my day off and work settles back into a normal routine I can go camping.

Nice setup. Would you mind sharing some info about the tent. Such as the brand, cost and where you got it. Looks like one of those tents that's designed to attach to the back of a SUV.

I like it! Where did you get it? I need one for when we bring the dogs with. I have a 100# lab, a 60# German Shepard, and (temporarily) a 35# Springer. My wife wont allow them in the Tear. Hopefully we can camp together soon. I'd like to see it up close.

Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Texsport-Lodge-Square-Dome-Tent/dp/B000IU11SM/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371604446&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=suve+tent

I kept looking at it then one day they had one listed as used for $85 with free shipping. It was brand new the box was damaged. Not high quality to be sure for that price but I figure with gentle use and care it will last awhile. It actually is nicer than I expected for that price. I didn't put the awning on, this was just a test fit and it actually fit pretty good. Now I don't have to fight the dog for the pillows.
I hope the clicky works.

The link worked great! Thanks. $134 is a good price for a new one on Amazon. My family and I will be camping at Willow River State park on the last weekend of this month. You should join us.

I would love to join you but I work every weekend, my camping is almost always mid week.

My wife has worked AND camped before. Willow River is near Hudson which made it 30 minutes away from her old work. She would come home to the campground after work and still had a little fun camping.

I work the overnight 11pm to 7am I would be sleeping when all the fun is going on. Although I have thought of how nice it would be to stretch out In a campground I doubt I would get much sleep during the day.

That is the one thing I wish my had was the side door instead of right out the front, but the price was right and I am happy.

Funny you should say that Karen, I prefer the front door opening this has both but I always use the front now seems bigger somehow.

Same here! Nearing the date for my first camping experience in decades, I'm gathering some equipment for that excursion. Some of it is not exactly what I was looking for, but I'm always game to try something different. The Coleman camping tent (my wife's "expedition" tent), that I was going to use for a side tent, is big enough to fit the trailer in, so I had to downsize. I bought a small canopy, and found a cheap "shelter" that attaches to the pop-up. Haven't tried it yet, but I think it'll work as a changing room/pee-poop palace when installed next to/over the trailer. The canopy legs will fit into eyebolts on the trailer side (to secure it against errant winds), and the canopy will shade the trailer roof and project 4' over it to provide a shaded area to sit in. the primary door will open into the shaded area. The second door will open directly into the attached shelter. I bought this combo for $70, at Academy.

I will make it work, or she'll kill me (she wants the huge tent).

If I had two doors on my tear that would be perfect, I really like it
