Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

The Start!

Postby schon1 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 4:17 am

Hello there! My name is Schon from Rock Island IL. Stumbled on this forum when i started doing research to convert my 2004 Haulmark Transport band wagon to a camper.Last year i bought a Coachman Captiva from a dealership with some water damage, thinking it was going to be an easy repair job.Gutted the interior and ripped out 75% of the floor and installed new joist.Upon further inspection i found that i opened a can of worms and the entire front wall, back wall and roof was soaked and retaining water like a sponge. So here i am thinking "Wow what a waste of time and money" Thank goodness i didn't pay very much for this.So due to time constraint and of course $$$$,i thought that this was going to be a total loss. Then a little light came on and i realized i was sitting on gold a mine of parts to do the conversion. So i took what i needed for parts and gave the ole' axe to the water logged Captiva. And so here we go with a new project......Will be showing pics of the the tear down and the start of the conversion on my Cargo trailer.112426112425112424112423112422112421112420

I sure will. Started the cargo conversion already, insulation complete.Next, wiring and figure out what i am going to do with the the frame work for cabinets and such. Not going to use the cabinets from the Coachman, just using the cabinet doors and make my own. Will be posting more pics in a couple of days.

That is one of the main reasons I did a cargo conversion. The nightmare of water damage in travel trailers scares me away.

Ditto on the water damage. My old 5th wheel became a donor for me. Serious water damage. The whole roof and part of one wall. It would cost more to fix than what it was worth or to build my conversion. Easy decision for me.

Keep up the good work and let us see some pics of your Ct work in progress plz sir!!

Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!
