It's a start. Probably won't be ready for this year, but you have all winter to work on it.

Good start bpalmer!

Have you signed up yet for the Beaver's Bend outing in April? Even if you aren't finished we'd love to have y'all there.

Take care,
Tom

Great start!

Makes me wish I had thought a little harder about locating a water tank near the axle (it's not too late yet, but...). I like the idea of the propane tanks being mounted on the backs of the fenders, too. Get's all of the variable weight near the axle so that your tongue weight is affected less by consumption. My guess is that having the propane on the tongue is more common because it is the safest outside location and is away from potential impact damage.

Taillights and fenders on trailers have a tendency to bump into things.

Looks like your fender platforms are fairly robust. Is that box tube under the edge?

On my car trailer I built cup like holders for the round taillights out of sections of heavy pipe; slotted a section around the perimeter so that the lens could be seen from the side; then mounted it to the trailer with a thin gauge piece of sheet formed into an angle tab. That way if they should happen to bump into something they will yield at the thin tab, but will protect the light fixture from damage.

Meant to ask what is the compartment under the rear of the tongue box? I can't quite make out the text at this resolution.

TIA

I used 2 pieces of 2.5" angle under the running boards that is welded underneth the channel frame so should be there!! If your looking at the drawing there is a small box on tongue then a build in box at front of trailer that will house the AC unit and batteries with space above for storage. the AC unit will basically sit on top of the spare and be open underneth for it to get air with the batteries sitting in each front corner

You going to section the batteries into separate compartment(s) from the A/C right?

Batteries (especially wet cells) give off hydrogen when they are charging and I would think that you would want to keep that away from your A/C, especially if planning to use the outside air vent feature. The little units still have that feature, right?

I suppose the modern units must be less of a concern for sparking/arcing with sealed motors and solid state circuits, but... ?

Also, if you haven't already, you may want to take a look at how others have done there A/C installs. Many have run into more problems than they expected when they partially enclosed their units. I think Planovet had good success with his thru the floor vented unit in the Little Swiss trailer.

I'm sure you have everything well thought out and under control... just saying. 8)

Yes the battery compartments are separate from the AC unit and will have a vents similar to a bass boat. I'm copying Planovet design except in front box instead of galley. the trailer is 5x12 the front 2 ft is the box that gives me 5x10 is for the camper i,m gonna use a Haire unit that blows out the top at about 45 degrees and small wall or headboard to keep mattress out in front of unit by maybe 6 or 8 inches so it can get return air this will also allow me some storage on both sides of the unit inside the camper.
I appreciate the feed back though I'm sure I'll need all the help i can get lol :D
