Sorry. You might try to get them out but if it turns into a hassle and you can afford new ceiling material, I'd personally go into demolition mode. My patience factor with something like that is dependent up my how deep my billfold is at the time.

Luan is cheap, very light, but not very resistant to impact. The advantage of crank out windows is they can be left open a crack for ventilation during a rain.
Your needs will change with use. I'm on my third in 2 years and still not fully satisfied. Make sure you put insurance on it. Our 7x16 was only $15 a year and it includes the contents. Good luck with your build

Agreed on the luan. That is why I went with 1/4" plywood on the walls. It feels much sturdier, and while it is heavier, it does not get to be too crazy until you get thicker. I also had some kick through type holes in the old luan while the plywood should be more resilient. I will use luan on the ceiling though, mostly for weight and because it shouldn't be touched. Going to try and reuse what I pulled off the walls, but if not, will get new.

I would say to always remember two phrases "the best laid plans" and "measure twice and cut once". Don't be discouraged! I have never done a project and not had a few "I wish I would have...".

But, I will echo that if you haven't started demo you might consider trying to sell and see what you can get. It doesn't cost anything to post it on CL and see....

I would be disappointed in how much the windows open. Makes me think I need to see how much the bigger windows open.

The trailer looks nice. I will agree the axel placement looks weird to me but I am a clueless newbie too and so my opinion on that is rather worthless.

If you keep it just rip off the ceiling and insulate. So much easier and cleaner to do empty!

I have to wait until we have a condensate problem or it won't cool down before I can rip it down or my hubby will never stop "@#$". I am sure this will happen,I am willing to wait.

I am dying laughing!!!!! Been there, done that. And, well, the satisfaction of "I told you so!" will certainly make up for any additional work. Then again...you could argue that the additional work is his responsibility since you wanted to do it right the first time.

My motto is "anything worth doing is worth doing well". Perhaps I should tag this onto the end "the FIRST time!!"

Today we decided to start insulating.George has been a little bent about the denting in of the front of trailer,which I attributed to "oilcanning". Took wood off front and it just doesn't look right. Steel runs horizontal while screws in front of trailer run vertical into poorly cut and poor quality pine? Has very thin cardboard like wood across the front ,if you push on it the aluminum skin is 1/2 inch away and moves.Don't ask me why I expected the front aluminum to be screwed into vertical steel supports.Won't that thin mdf? get wet when I insulate between it and the plywood? Tailwind is not the cheapest Forrest River enclosed trailer.Comments/explanations? What do I do about insulating it + there seems to be random staples in strange places sticking out of the thin wood next to the skin? Closed and locked door ,said WTF and told George I was asking the forum if this is normal?

I like your trailer. I've built a few. No need to sweat anything. It's good. You can configure it lots of different ways that will work nicely for you. Then you sell it and do another with what you learned, or just remodel the first one slightly to suit you better. Don't worry about the insulation. Put some things in the trailer and go camp in it. Little by little you transform it.

Prem,so this is normal? I have been trying to find pictures of other peoples build where the front has the wood down to see what they look like.Anybody got any pictures posted of the front of their trailer with the wood off and before insulating? Going through the gallery of everybody who posts to cargo trailers is tiring.

My H&H v-nose has vertical 1x1 steel tubes every foot and the aluminum is VHT taped to the tubes(I have the rivetless exterior) on the front of the trailer. The front is by far the most reinforced part of the trailer.

Ok,went back and looked at the pictures,v noses vertical support,flat faced sometimes vertical,sometimes horizontal.tell you the truth ,I googled images "insulating cargo trailers" and got the best results of all,saw some that looked just like mine. I love Google images. The pine boards and thin particle board were what threw me-I expected it to look like the sides of the trailer.I am amazed at the number of members who have 0 pictures in their galleries or images-believe me,I went looking! This actually looked better then others I looked at! So today we start insulating. Yes,hubby pictured is on oxygen and has mobility cart outside the door of trailer and I haven't been quite the same since that year of chemo for stage 4 colon cancer,we work slow but you can do anything you put your mind to-just really slowly . That's if you have a mind left! Tool shop is migrating to trailer and is going to stay there until we finish.I am sick of forgetting something and making another trip to get it.
