Flexiride axle

Can someone tell me what size pilot hole is needed in a wheel for a 2000lb. axle? Southwest wheel said 3.19 inches but he didn't sound for certain. Sounds kinda big and where do you get plain steel wheels with a hole that big. All the wheels I've seen are 2.750. The wheels I got have a 2.750 hole. 14" wheels. Thanks.

Going by the highly unscientific means of scaling off a drawing, I get a hub diameter of about 2.5 inches or maybe 2.6, but some way short of 3.19.

Seems worth asking UCF on Monday.

Trailer wheels are different from auto wheels. The trailer hub is generally larger as the wheels are lug centered instead of hub centered like on cars. Flexiride uses Dexter hubs, here's some info on the hub:

Also, trailer wheels have zero offset, auto wheels typically don't.

P.S. Check out the trailer wheels, the 13-14" all have 3-1/8" holes...

Kim, There are several more places to look for wheels you may like.
Wheels and Tires lists many suppliers.
Shaddow wheels often have center bore sizes of 3.19" or 3.30". Click on their Get More Details button for any wheel to see.

Recstuff wheels specifications show center sizes too. A random one was 3.19".

Bolt pattern: 5 on 4-1/2"

I've used old Mopar wheels with no problem on the Flexiride with a 5 on 4.5" hub. You can get them up at a pick and pull or junkyard pretty inexpensively beats the price of a new wheel and you're probably going to want to paint or powdercoat them anyway. Doug

Thanks Doug. So the center bore is large enough on a stock rim to fit on the axle?

Don't know if it helps bit I've got steel car wheels on my dexter axle. I was more worried about being able to fit the moon hubcaps than the wheel fitting over the hub.

Vintage Trailer Supply sells steel wheels & moon caps made for trailers. Note that the wheels have a 1/2" inset (positive 1/2" offset) & 2.62" center hole that fits Dexter hubs.
