Door not closing right

Hey everyone. I sort of messed up on my door. It open and shut perfectly until I put the weather strip around the inside of the door.

So I cut two pieces of Luan and put them behind the hinges on the wall of the camper but the door still sticks out and is not flush with the side of the camper.

I don't think I'm making sense conveying my problem. But I'm thinking about putting TWO pieces of Luan under each hinge where it attaches to the wall of the camper.

Or do I need to do something differently to fix this?

Try thinner weather stripping, something that will compress better than what you are using. The black D with the hollow interior compresses nicely. OR....cut in more relief for the gasket mount. Just an idea, others will probably vary. Doug

How thick is the seal and how thick is the spacer between your inner wall and the seal flange?

You only want to compress the seal between 30 and 50/ct, that way it will spring back and not wear out quickly.

Put the spacer between the wall and the seal flange and the door will stay flush (unless it is warped).

If the door is warped, you may want to consider framing it out with some 1x2's.

I placed a spacer under the the body side of the door hinge.
The door contacts the seal flat.
The spacer was made from a nylon bread board stolen when my wife was looking the other way.
Excuse the grubby Tear, needs a wash.

Couple stainless steel, or plastic washers under the hinges, on the body side, should do it.
