Ahhh, I found some portable refrigerators. I am going to check them out. Quite interesting...

I have yet to weigh it since the conversion but stock trailer weight was 2200lbs. As for the portable frige one brand is Whynter another is edge star and there are to here you can Amazon theses or Home Depot sells one brand online. As for the floor a thin layer would make a difference. Some flooring manufactures say to put down a layer under the floating floor. I've visited Georgia what a beautiful state. Another pluses to insulating the floor is sound deading. I did not insulate my floor at first. After I did we can barely hear the dog bark. Oh by the way I miss my all of my jeeps

Yes, I saw the W brand on Amazon just now. They have mixed reviews. Most of the negatives are connection issues which I can certainly overcome. In looking at them I believe their freezing capability will be the major advantage for me. Then again...my husband may feel the "beer fridge" possibility is more valuable.

Several other folks have mentioned the sound buffer and I believe that might be the real stickler for me. I HATE barking dogs!! I am willing to craft safe threshold solutions if it serves to be a "mute button" on those pesky creatures whose owners are oblivious to how freaking annoying a barking dog is!! (I am a dog lover...who believes in training and bark colors).

As for my Jeep...I LOVE her!! She is my favorite vehicle ever. And, since I want to keep her I am forced to build a smaller cargo conversion. I am not a fan of either tipping over....

Google Engel, ARB, and National Luna 12 volt refrigerator. These are real refrigerators, run on 12 VDC.

Thanks MtnDon.

Any way to escape coolers with melting ice is a victory to me!

....and for a built in refrigerator that uses the same danfoss compressor there is theNovakool. There is also Truckfridge and Norcold makes a 12 VDC compressor refrigerator. I think Dometic does too.

For many years we have used Coleman Extreme coolers. For trips of a few to 4 or 5 days we manage quite well with freezing quart or half gallon jugs of water at home before the camping trip. I really hate melting ice and the resulting pool of water everything floats in.
